I'm a graphic artist and small-scale inventor/entrepreneur who started spending a lot of my time exploring Bitcoin in early 2013.

I've been accepting Bitcoin for design and print work since May 2013 (my first Bitcoin job was business cards for the Let's Talk Bitcoin team to bring to Bitcoin 2013 in San Jose).

I've been selling Bitcoin Keychains since July 2013.

I made Litecoin keychains a bit later in 2013, but they haven't been selling that well (anyone want a deal on 1000 Litecoin keychains?).

I've written bitcoin articles on Let's Talk Bitcoin and Spelunk.in

And in October of 2014 I became an LTB Network podcaster with The Bitcoin Game!

I'm definitely not a Bitcoin expert, just an enthusiast who enjoys participating as much as I can.

  • Re: longer Magic Word

I've said this before (unsure if it was publicly or maybe just emailing with Cryptonaut), but since the subject is being discussed...

I agree that a week makes more sense than four days. I don't see a benefit to rushing people. A busy schedule plus a bunch of podcasts release in a short period can make it difficult to keep up!

Separately, a point of confusion is that the magic word system currently sets the expiration exactly 96 hours after the release. But listeners don't know what time of day a podcast was posted, the posts only show the release date (not time). So listeners can't tell what time of day the magic word expires on a specific day -- it could be 2am, or 20 hours later at 10pm. This can cause justified frustration to a listener who makes an effort to listen and claim their magic word in time, but doesn't make it because the original publication time was early in the morning.

So, regardless of the number of days (4, 7, or longer), I'd suggest one of the following: (1) an unwritten bonus day from the stated expiration date, (2) that the system allows until midnight of the expiration date, regardless of the time of the initial post, or (3) the system automatically adds to each podcast post, information stating the exact date and time the magic word expires.

BTW, I'm not sure why, but a full months seems long to me. I'd say 1-2 weeks feels right. Again, I'm unsure why, that's just my gut response.

Have you seen any designs yet that are promising? Please post what you come up with.

Updated Post: I'm going to the Texas Bitcoin Conference! Is anyone else on these boards planning to be there?

    @ivanb

I just wanted to weigh in that the feed seemed to be pretty responsive today from my vantage point. I bug @cryptonaut quite often when I see something seems amiss with the feed. Glad to know others are keeping an eye on various podcast outlets (I know nothing about player.fm).

@cryptonaut Im surprised no one else has noticed this already lol

Sorry, I know I let you down...

  • Re: PSA: Backup Your 2FA Google Authenticator!

@dpc Backup your google auth app/data regularly.

I think the Google Auth app doesn't allow it's data to be backed up in many standard backups (and in cases it does allow backups, is the backup securely encrypted, with a very strong password?). My worst fear would be someone hacking my computer, and also scoring my 2FA backup. I prefer the idea of printing the initial QR code, and keeping it offline.

  • Re: PSA: Backup Your 2FA Google Authenticator!

Thanks for making this point. Can I ask what accounts were lost? Many sites have ways to recover, even if you lose your 2FA…

BTW, I liked the following suggestion… sort of…

When you get a 2FA QR code to scan, print it out. Then scan from the printed paper (to be absolutely sure your 2FA and the paper print are exactly the same), and keep the paper somewhere save as your backup. I've never done this, but seems like a good idea.
