  • Re: [AUCTION] [Adam B. Levine] [Weekly End Date Sunday Noon Pacific] Hour Long Consultation via Skype (High Bid 6500)

    @william

    I thought @Adam mentioned sending the winners tokens for their hour (after winners send in LTBc), and that the tokens for Adam's time would be tradable. My impression from this was that there was no hurry to use the consult tokens we were bidding on. I had been hyping the value of these Adam tokens, and that the value of an hour of Adam's time becoming more valuable in the future. So I've been waiting to see that token arrive from the first round of bidding. Has the plan changed? Did I misunderstand the plan?

    @jayek @bcohen Did you want to include any artistic direction or creative license to go wild?

    I thought this couldn't hurt to help you out a bit, hope you don't mind. http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/2b97wt/ltb_network_advertising_broker_purchase_airtime/

    Upvoted.

    @kerneloops @rob are you managing this?

    @adam, bidding 20000 LTBc

    I've never felt I was managing this. As a bidder, that didn't seem right. But I'd be into giving it a try next time. I assume that requires a new thread so I could update the original post… And someone official to say it's my job.

    Just let me know. Seems pretty easy to manage, from what I understand.

    @bcohen Wish I could say yes to you (and everything on LTB), but I'm a little overstretched with work right now. Hope to jump in and offer my help more when my workload lightens up. Looks like you're covered on this one.

  • Re: Bitcoin Keychain Auction - includes USA shipping

    @adam Go nuts man, it's a free country.

    Is it funny that I thought "likes" were a metric when I had my giveaway based on likes? Had I just waited a few days...

  • Re: General Bitcoin adoption, I think we're missing a big piece of the puzzle...

    I encourage people, no matter what they do for a living, to market themselves as accepting Bitcoin. There are plenty of people wanting to pay for goods in services in Bitcoin.

    If you don't work for Bitcoin, just buy Bitcoin regularly, and then you can spend it freely, without diminishing your hoard!

    (just realized a lot of responses were added in since I loaded this thread, so sorry for any redundancy in my post)

  • Re: Should LTB charge for its podcasts

    (without reading anyone's response)

    No. Maybe just charge for special content? But make it easy to get hooked on the show (and Bitcoin itself), and expect the quality content combined with a growing number of Bitcoin enthusiasts to propel listenership, and support it all through a few ads.

  • Re: Dell accepts Bitcoin

    Whatever the motivation, I think it's great P.R. for Bitcoin!

  • Re: Bitcoin Keychain (or 1,000 LTBc) Giveaway

    @troy112 I got your email, and no need to pay for shipping, my giveaway includes the keychain and the postage!

  • Re: microphone quality guideline for contributions

    I'm no expert, but as someone who has recently attempted to record audio for podcasting, I've seen how much noise was picked up when I did an interview in a deli with my Zoom H4 built-in mics (the quite hum of refrigeration equipment was amazingly loud in the recording). I also found that it was very difficult living in a city (and not having a soundproof room) to record anything that didn't pick up cars driving by, etc. I then bought and tested a Shure SM58 (plugs into my Zoom with XLR connection), and the difference in external noise is night and day.

    I also learned in my deli interview, that putting a mic directly on a table when you're talking to people can have problems. While I kept everyone from touching the table to avoid that noise, I didn't realize that the phone on the table was set to vibrate, and that vibration was really loud on the recording. If I were to do that again, I'd try some foam padding to see if that would help isolate the mic from the table.

    For recording a conference, a cardioid mic that's great for podcasting probably wouldn't be good, unless the mic was right next to a speaker (proximity of the mic relative to the audio source is a huge factor in a quality recording).

    I'll also mention that Adobe Audition has noise filters, and filters that really improve vocal audio, and these can help rescue a horrible recording to some degree. The noise filters did a great job of reducing the hums in the deli, and a vocal filter hugely improved an iPhone recording I made at a public hearing.

    Again, I'm speaking as a non-expert, based on my limited experience.
