  • Re: (CLOSED) Auction for 1 Hour of Adam B. Levine's Time

    CLOSED!!!

    1 @Tron 37K LTBc

    2 @markxmayer 36K LTBc

    And sorry to 3rd place @SovBTC, who just missed winning this for two auctions in a row (and feel a slight connection to, from the podcast!). But that's the way it goes.

    Are you two able to review the initial post and follow what you're supposed to do next? And let me know if you have any questions after giving that a read.

    Thanks!

    Timestamp test (this is getting exciting!!!)

  • Re: (CLOSED) Auction for 1 Hour of Adam B. Levine's Time

    Okay, I've been outbid by @markxmayer (33 LTBc), and @SovBTC (34 LTBc) has the leading bid (top two bids will each win an hour). As I'm managing this thread, I won't be bidding any more (I don't want to be too aggressive, to avoid any sense of impropriety). We'll see if any more bids come in during the next 2 minutes.

    BTW, based on what I've seen other managers do, I will accept bids timestamped at 12:00pm (noon) in my specified time-zone, but a 12:01 pm time-stamped message will not be accepted.

    My thoughts would be bidding a bit higher than expected at the last minute might be necessary to win. For other auctions, I've seen some people who thought they would win with a slightly higher bid, get pummeled by another bidder. Keep in mind how cheap LTBc is right now, and that other bidders might be ready to step in at literally the last minute.

    Good luck all!

    I like your distinctive style!

    Just over 2 hours left for this auction. Please refer to the original post if you have questions, I think most will be found there.

    ===Current High Bids===

    1 @SovBTC 32K LTBc

    2 @Rob 31K LTBc

    Wonder if we'll see any last-minute bids from:
    @William
    @deweller
    @Zero4ce
    @kerneloops
    @rob1ham
    @davidareallen
    @cyrusfx

  • Re: Abusive Likes.

    @cryptonaut I went ahead and deleted all those accounts, so their likes wont even count lol.

    Should we fear the centralized power you have? I say this tongue-in-cheek, because I completely trust you and Adam (and other's here, as well). I'm also in awe of how amazing your work on this site is! But I do have trouble reconciling philosophically how glad I am that you have the ultimate power on this site, vs. the goals of decentralization of such power. I'd be curious if anyone has thoughts on this.

    I also am a bit unclear why adding an email address will do much to stop technical people from creating many accounts, since it isn't difficult to create a new email address for each account.

  • Re: Abusive Likes.

    @kerneloops I just liked all of your posts. Take it!

    You've been flagged for questionable liking.

    @crimsonroze Ah. I was talking to @cryptonaut, but having a non-programmer looking at problems is always good as well.

    Oops! Well, smart programmers such as yourselves probably will think of anything I will think of.

  • Re: Abusive Likes.

    @crimsonroze If you'd like to discuss automated flagging systems then I have some thoughts to share from my time trying to design an anti-bot system for my games.

    My only qualifications are being a paranoid thinker, and listening religiously to a tech security podcast for years. But I'd be open to talking, if you think it would be of value.

  • Re: Did you borrow more than $25k to go to college?

    @cyberclones Currently I'm working towards my CPA

    Are you planning on specializing on cryptocurrency accounting?

  • Re: BTC.com sold for 1,000,000$

    @ezimedia

    Funny, I was talking to someone yesterday (about Bitcoin), and he is friends with the guy who originally registered sex.com, and sold it eventually for a fortune. He was a tech guy who recognized early that the internet would be huge, and thus he bought a lot of domains before anyone had thought of doing that. But he wasn't just buying domains, apparently he also started the huge dating website match.com.

    I've been a small-scale domain name speculator for awhile, but I've only sold one (liveinterview.com) for $2000 (bought it before the tech boom, and at one point, someone optioned it for $20,000 -- that would have been sweet!). Interestingly, the guys who bought it for $2,000 never did anything with it.

    When I just was getting into Bitcoin, it seemed easier to buy Bitcoin domains than Bitcoin itself. So I've bought quite a few Bitcoin and/or crypto domains, some of which I've used, but most are just waiting for me to have time to develop (wish I had more time). I'm in no hurry to sell any of them. I mean, if you believe Bitcoin is going to increase in value, then you must assume decent Bitcoin domains are also going to increase in value.
