Re: Your favorite musical act you saw live
This is a toss up for me. Either Ozzy at Blizzcon or Nine Inch Nails on the final tour.

Re: BTC Consumption
@swimmer63 Started looking into btc in February of 2013. I'm not a trained techie so my learning curve was steep. I started a little mining and then was a reseller and finally a manufacturer of the small USB miners. All on the side of course. Ended up being some significant income last year and early this year. But when I am not doing that I keep up with bitcointalk.org, new btc friends I have made around the world and listening to podcasts. It can be an all consuming hobby. But I have to believe we all have vision that most do not have today. I guess we'll see.
I'd love to interview you at some point for Coin Fire. Love hearing stories from people who were not previously in the tech world coming in to Bitcoin. Is that something you would be interested in?

Re: kickstarting
@coinfire
@ronky Hi guys,
any good kickstarting crowdfunding websites? Except for the obvious kickstarter and indiegogo :)
Thanks in advance for your ideas.
If you haven't seen the Bitcoin Starter website yet you might want to check it out at: https://bitcoinstarter.com
Bitcoinstarter is an excellent example of how if you give people a platform but don't help them use it properly to succeed, you taint the platform and any project it comes in contact with. I sent back and forth a bunch of emails with their founder last summer trying to get them to hire me and eventually for free for me to help them pick projects but they wanted to be the "If Kickstarter Rejected You, Come Use Us!" of the crypto world.
Unsurprisingly they've had an ENORMOUS failure rate because most of the projects they list are not very thought through, don't have enough details and don't even have the basics like a video. It's unfortunate because now it sorta doesnt matter, they haven't fixed it for so long that guys like me who are really interested in this space don't even visit any more because there's never been a good reason.
Even things I donated to and were successful (like FROG, a bitmessage client funded a year ago) don't seem to have gone anywhere at all https://bitcoinstarter.com/projects/98 - I hope I'm wrong and I just don't see any progress because there is no update page, but this was one of the only and most successful projects they ever funded and I don't see a single update in the last year anywhere.
So please don't hold up bitcoinstarter - it is an example of how not to do this, and they've been proving how bad their approach was, non-stop, for the last year.
No offense intended if they read this, if you can't be a shining example at least be a horrible warning :)
I've been trying to get a feel for what that site is like so it is good to hear an opinion on it. I asked a similar question recently about kickstarter sites using Bitcoin and the overwhelming opinion on reddit was Bitcoinstarter and a few other people chimed in to say that nothing good has really been on it yet which is why it has failed so miserably.
I think one of the major issues is that they just aren't Kickstarter or IndieGoGo. It is hard to get your foot in the door when you've got two major players and the only differentiating factor is that you do Bitcoin.
Is this a mainstream appeal problem? I've been wondering about it even more hearing that it hasn't really vetted projects and is struggling.

Re: BTC Consumption
@robmitchell @coinfire You're seeing my CC image search as more philanthropic than it is (though Google does have a nice CC image search feature, so it's not too hard to find CC Bitcoin images). For me, it's primarily about finding uses of my own CC Bitcoin Keychain photos on various websites, so I can say "as seen on…" and list a bunch of impressive websites (and, it just gives me great satisfaction to see my keychains and my photos used to represent the concept of Bitcoin). You can see some of the bigger sites that used my images at bkeychain.com (each "as seen on" logo links to an article that used one of my photos). Two big sites that used my images that I have yet to add to my website are Arstechnica and Engadget. Many of the sites I listed have used my images multiple times, and 100s of other sites have used these images. And by all means, you or anyone else is certainly welcome to use any of the images in articles ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/100239928@N08/ -- I also have images of some products made by Bitcoin friends in the mix ). I'm really waiting for some "end of Bitcoin" article to use one of the photos showing a Bitcoin keychain being attacked by an acetylene torch. I think those images turned out really neat.
That's pretty awesome! I'll have to take a look at the images as well :)

Re: The Homegrown Mining Botnet
@obstinatus Tell him to get his rear over here. I'm very interested in what other stories he can dog up!
He actually replied that he doesn't want to tie himself down to any site right now because he wants full editorial control because the next piece is going to shake the core of the bitcoin news sites apparently.
I am at least trying to get him to join for the forums.

Re: LTB Site Search
@impulse Maybe I am missing seeing it, but why is there no search box for the LTB forum and for the articles on LTB?
This is a feature that will be launching soon from what we know :)

Re: BTC Consumption
@mich The bitcoin subreddit is the biggest timesink. Well, reddit in general.
Yeah, I can't even begin to think about how much time over the last several years I was sucked in to reddit and now a lot of my time is spent on /r/bitcoin as well.
If reddit was like World of Warcraft and had a /played time... I would shudder at the thought.

Re: BTC Consumption
@dirtyboots702 I'm enamored with the ideas that the community as a whole are coming up with and having a lot of fun jumping on specific alt coins and giving some, not a lot, of financial support...but god knows a lot of time. probably 30-40%
I would call 40% a lot of time ;)
HAHAHA Is that spare time or time you are setting aside though?
