  • ATTENTION: LTB Distributed Workforce - Assemble!

    Howdy, as you may have noticed @adam has been distributing quite a bit of work flow around here. So much so that it will certainly get difficult to manage and track -- if it hasn't already.

    In the interest of tracking everything and making this whole distributed workforce thing more efficient/practical we have begun putting together a Trello board to track all projects.

    If you are working with LTB on any sort of project (be it recurring, temporary, etc) please sign up for Trello and post your username along with what project you are working on with LTB in this thread. That way I can add you to the Distributed Workforce group as well as the LTB Operations board and we can really get this experiment on the way.

    Here are a few of the roles that I know for sure should be posting here: Auction managers, column editors, web developers.

    Some people: @cryptonaut @davidareallen @CrimsonRoze @dhimmel @btcbandit @kerneloops @lainfinity @edd @coinfire

    If I haven't mentioned you, it doesn't mean you shouldn't post here it just means that I don't know who you are or what you're working on with LTB!

    If you have any questions, I can be found in the IRC channel most afternoons/evenings thanks to @kerneloops: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/irc-ltbcoin-channel-is-up (It's a bit dead in here, so let's go :P)

    Edit: You do not need to change anything on the Trello board yet once you have been added. We will make sure everyone's on the same page once we've hammered out the details of how to operate it.

  • Re: Why Bitcoin price is falling?

    It's going down because it's a two-sided market. Thank your lucky stars that it is. Any market that goes straight up or straight down is pretty useless.

    It doesn't need a reason, or an explanation. It just is. It could be going down because there's no speculative inflow today but a lot of consumer transactions needing to be cashed out into dollars. Who knows? Doesn't particularly matter at this point, since anybody that claims to know why is really, really pulling your leg.

  • Re: Could we change Bitcoin mining if we wanted to?

    This will definitely be a huge problem, if we do ever get to the point that it becomes necessary to promote a change. I can think of many examples where an industry change at the detriment of the industrial players would be impossible, or at least near impossible to do all at once. Industrial miners have both the capital, and the connections to make sure their voices are heard.

    If I were to imagine a scenario where a change is made successfully, it would have to be at a huge subsidy to the miners. That is unless there is a way to alter the system that could remain beneficial to miners, or at least neutral. After the first change, miners could slowly be phased out so that they don't have the opportunity or incentive to just shut down all at once. In order to do that, however, it needs to be subtle enough that the system can run on even if there is a backlash from the mining industry.

  • Re: Banks and Bitcoin

    I actually didnt know that there was all this evidence of banks interacting/experimenting with bitcoin in the first place. So that's exciting.

  • Re: [CLOSED][Auction] Air time on Let's Talk Bitcoin! Two 45 Second Sponsorship Slots for Episode 128 due to air 7/18. Auction Closes at Noon on 7/17! (12:00 pm PST) Final Bid(s): 31,000 / 30,250 LTBc

    @bcohen 30,250 LTBc for combined Myriad / Bitofthis LTB Ad Broker

    That makes you our highest bidder by far @ 30,250. Thanks for your support!

    Thanks for the pointing out that discrepancy. Since we still have a lot of new users joining us, we will give the benefit of the doubt here and trust that the user is planning on acquiring the committed LTBc or has it in another wallet. Should the auction end and the user does not remit proper payment within the allotted time he will default his position to the next highest bidder.

    @prismicide hmm....

    15K here !

    for our PRISMicide smart card based Hardware Wallet :)

    And that will make you our second highest bidder behind Myriad/Bitofthis. Thank you for your support! Please note that we would like to see proof of ability to pay in your registered LTBcoin compatible address ASAP.

    @bcohen

    I have received confirmation from Adam, and your answers are below.

    Any way of knowing what subject matter is in Friday's Episode? I have a client that is looking to advertise in a "51% Episode."

    Answer: This episode will contain essentially what is left of LTB's 51% content for the foreseeable future. Unless any major developments occur, obviously. So this would be the episode for him.

    Additionally I would like to team up with my client giving them about 75% of the spot and my Bitofthis LTB Ad broker 25% or less of the spot...(all within the 45 seconds etc.)

    Answer: This is totally acceptable. If you do bid, just include what split you have worked out along with the other necessary information.

    @bcohen @mjroncone Any way of knowing what subject matter is in Friday's Episode? I have a client that is looking to advertise in a "51% Episode." Also it would be greatly appreciated if at least 1 auction a week either ends after 2:30 PM PST and/or is held during the weekend.

    Additionally I would like to team up with my client giving them about 75% of the spot and my Bitofthis LTB Ad broker 25% or less of the spot...(all within the 45 seconds etc.)

    I'm just waiting on a response from Adam on this point, as he maintains final control. For the first part of your question, I am not sure if we can know ahead of time. I know that Adam works on these up until the very last minute, so he may not even know ahead of time or just simply may not wish to release it.

    As for the timing issue, we can definitely do that! It's just a matter of shifting schedules which I will note going forward. I just kept this timing scheme from the previous auctions since it was my first time running it.

    Finally, I don't foresee splitting up the time between you and your client being a problem. Especially because you are specifically an advertising broker. Again, Adam has the final say on this, but I would think that this could be an exception to the "one slot, one service" rule.

    @dgiors

    @mjroncone 12K for Incoherent Ramblings

    You are now the highest bid at 12,000 LTBc, thanks! I really like the name, by the way.

    Current high bids:

    Slot 1: 12,000 LTBc from @dgiors for Incoherent Ramblings (www.iamrambling.com)

    Slot 2: 10,500 LTBc from @strip for Bitshares

    First Runner-up: 10,000 LTBc from @robmitchell for Bkeychain.com (pending)

    @mazide

    Bitshares? seriously?

    If you have an issue with Bitshares sponsoring the show, I wholeheartedly welcome you to outbid and kick them out of their slot. That way we all win! (Except for maybe Bitshares.. but we'll see.)
