While most altcoins are getting slaughtered, LTC shines propelled higher by Litepay and a new fork. Bitcoin continues its gains as well but stopped short of a new rally. Bitcoin Higher but Stops Short of New Rally Bitcoin prices traded even higher si...

Hey guys/gals, my name is Matt and I've been studying bitcoin behind the scenes since it's 2010. I'm a materials scientist, UI/UX designer and entrepreneur. I formally worked as a process engineer specializing in the development of thin film material.
In a recent former life I worked in a team of two to develop a hybrid social network that combined core attributes of twitter and facebook into a localized network. Unfortunately, the idea never took as it happens with most social startups. Since then I've spent a large amount of my time studying cryptocurrencies and the problems we need to solve in order to eliminate friction in adoption. I feel the world needs easier ways to mine cryptographic currencies that are outside of computational mining, which is what has led me to LTBcoin.

Re: I was told there would be coins
@shemnon At my accumulation rate cashing it out would amount to a family meal. Which really isn't that bad for participating in a forum and listening to podcasts for magic words, but I was hoping for something more substantial.
@shemnon By coins it's LTBCoins.
Still haven't figured out what I'm going to do with mine. Nothing to advertise, and I am almost immediately outbid for the hour of consulting, although I don't know what I would get consulted about.
You can always trade them on the Counterparty's DEX or at https://www.melotic.com/markets/ltbc-btc
It's only been live for a few weeks! Give it some time or if you want cash out let me know. ;)

Re: New York Regulation - What Does it Mean for LTBcoin?
Definition of a virtual currency as defined by NY regulations is pretty broad.
"Virtual Currency means any type of digital unit that is used as a medium of exchange or a form of digitally stored value or that is incorporated into payment system technology. Virtual Currency shall be broadly construed to include digital units of exchange that (i) have a centralized repository or administrator; (ii) are decentralized and have no centralized repository or administrator; or (iii) may be created or obtained by computing or manufacturing effort. Virtual Currency shall not be construed to include digital units that are used solely within online gaming platforms with no market or application outside of those gaming platforms, nor shall Virtual Currency be construed to include digital units that are used exclusively as part of a customer affinity or rewards program, and can be applied solely as payment for purchases with the issuer and/or other designated merchants, but cannot be converted into, or redeemed for, Fiat Currency;"

Re: The Red Pill Episode
@rotalumis It's funny how I've managed to avoid this thread for so long because I somehow thought it was about an episode I hadn't caught up with yet.
I've been writing the first blog post for Crypto for Change about this very topic: getting people hooked on crypto. It's in draft, so here's a sneak preview.
In order to reach the masses and get them hooked on Bitcoin and crypto, we need to talk to them in terms they can understand and relate to. Maybe we need to shift the focus away from the technology as a marvel in itself, towards its world-changing practical applications. It is obvious that people take a much deeper interest in something they think will help them achieve their own goals. It is one of those obvious things we tend to forget about.
Instead, we crypto-advocates all too often sound like the hardware store sales guy who keeps going on about the wonderful lawnmower they received this week, when you live in an apartment block and just need some fittings to hang a shelf.
People already have their passions, their wants, their needs, their fires. Instead of trying to get them to care about cryptocurrencies, maybe we need to pour a little crypto-scented oil onto those fires and make them burn hotter.
This is the idea behind the Crypto for Change blog that I am starting on the Let's Talk Bitcoin Network. My aim is to reach out to people who want to make change happen and show them how they can use crypto-related technologies to achieve their goals.
I think you're right, in a sense, but the first question I usually get is how does it work? Then I start SMH.
