I am Paul Boyer, the host of the weekly Mad Money Machine show. I have an MSEE from The Johns Hopkins University. I bought my first bitcoins in 2012 by filling out a form online, getting a code, taking it to CVS pharmacy, calling Western Union on a red telephone, telling them the code, paying CVS, then logging back in. Pretty complicated, but glad I did it! I previously achieved the CISSP (Certified Information System Security Professional) credential, but gave it up when they wanted me to pay for next year’s credential. Kinda like going to college and them asking you for money every year to keep your degree??? I have experience in information system security consulting and setting up corporate PKI systems. About ten years ago for an internal research and development project I wrote an end-to-end encrypted email solution. Wow, I wish my company would have kept the fire lit under that one! I started the Mad Money Machine show in 2005 as a way to learn and communicate what I learned about investing. Now, it's a Bitcoin show!

Thanks, The show is ready to go.

  • Re: EDIT - Magic word WORKING NOW! - MMM S02E13 - Season finale - Magic word not working

Yeah, the magic word won't work until MMM shows up on the Let's Talk Bitcoin site. But even then, the form I fill out to enter the magic word was missing this week, so I'm not sure when I put it in the Comments section that it will appear or not. Oh well...

  • Re: LTBCoin and the start of Private Network Tokens

Hmmmm, not sure what happened. My first counterwallet.co bitcoin address was 1GrjbsVbUjax9rTj1VW5BYW7T6CPGAkpNj a couple of days ago. Today when I logged in my first bitcoin address is 1Lp1KmV5G8hhwbepT6iNHpkemWMHZLisok.

I got a message from letstalkbitcoin.com that I have received a distribution to the old address. But of course I do not see that in counterparty.co wallet. Poof?

  • Re: LTBcoin Brainstorm/Planning Call - 5:30pm PST (GMT -8) Friday the 14th

Thanks for the answers. More questions:
How does the flow of ltbcoin for tipping work, that is...Does Listener buy an ltbcoin to tip to a show? If so, from whom do they purchase them and/or where does the cash go?Or does Listener create ltbcoin by listening? Or does Listener create ltbcoin by tipping?
Am I correct in assuming that the that there will be a fiat-to-ltbcoin exchange where sponsors buy ltbcoin, and then LTB or other ltbcoin holders can sell their ltbcoin on that exchange to them?

  • Re: LTBcoin Brainstorm/Planning Call - 5:30pm PST (GMT -8) Friday the 14th

I might be available to attend live via computer. Is it mumble or google plus? Here are some questions I have:
I understand that sponsors will somehow be able to bid for slots on shows. I'm interested in learning how they will indicate their bids. Is there an exchange or trading post for that?
What percentage of sponsor bids go to the content producer?Likewise, will show producers bid on exclusive content? Will ltbcoin be used by audience to give feedback on the quality of content? How?Will there be a blockexplorer for ltbcoin? Will the holdings of an ltbcoin owner be public or private? Will there be analytics for ltbcoin such as historical price charts, supply, market cap, etc?If an audio producer gets 2 ltb for 10 minutes and 4 ltb for 50 minutes, then wouldn't they be incentivized to do five 10 minute shows and thus get 10 ltb?Are these questions too dumb or numerous? :-)

  • Re: When did you first start listening to LTB? What is your favorite episode?

I've listened to all of the LTB shows, just not in chronological order. My favs are when the hosts sit around and talk. But, yeah, the Bitcoin 2.0 interviews are compelling because they take me to the future. And, yeah, the Adam Back interview was intense.I expect the best one to come will be the interview with Satoshi. :-)

  • Re: Introduce yourself!

I'm Paul and I host the Mad Money Machine show, which won the Let's Talk Bitcoin podcast competition back in January.I have a small list of demands:
I want a secure yet quick and easy-to-use Bitcoin system.
I want everyone to use Bitcoin.
I want Bitcoin to take away power from those who abuse it.
I want millibits to go to $100 each. (They are $0.64 as I write.)
I suppose you could replace the word "Bitcoin" with "Crypto" there and it still works. I want to do whatever I can to help make it happen. And I still want millibits to go to $100.
