Hey Adam! The site has been live for the past three weeks at http://bitstars.ph so you can give it a look there and see it in action. As I said, it's running with zero marketing budget so our growth has been mostly commensurate to whatever our personal social circles can reach. (We're working on that part though.)

The site has generated and distributed about 0.5 BTC in tips and winnings since we started, which isn't a lot, but it's a start and not too bad for a fledgling faucet. One of our founders posted about it on the bitcoin subreddit too and we got some decent feedback

  • Bitcoin adoption in the Philippines

Hey everyone, big fan of the LTB podcast and finally got around to making an account to try to get involved with the community. I'm the head of product for a bitcoin-related startup called Satoshi Citadel Industries, based out of Makati, Philippines. We're a super young company and have just started rolling out BTC centric products to help grow the username out here.

One of our first brands is this crazy selfie contest site called Bitstars.ph, which is essentially a bitcoin faucet based around selfies and votes. It sounds frivolous, I know, but the Philippines is one of the largest generators of selfies in the world, so if you ever needed a vehicle for subtly introducing BTC to the mainstream user, you'd be hard pressed to find a better method here. The first 3 weeks of our alpha test has resulted in 600+ users and 3500+ selfies with zero marketing budget.

I've been trying to find some other examples of indirect approaches to BTC adoption and was wondering what other folks in developing nations were trying. Does anyone have any idea?
