    @maxentropy Hi Crypto,

    I have experience with development, product delivery and support that has put my products into some 53 countries by way of international cellular operators. You must use building blocks to accomplish your business objectives.

    The LTB business people should be driving this, and not developers. :-)

    Again, it is difficult to communicate the significance of this statement in email and at the same minimize the implications for developer egos.

    Now I might change my opinion, if you had a funded group of developers of at least 10 in number, but I sense this is not the case. So either you must use building block technologies or find enough money to properly fund these projects.

    I am going to drop out of the conversation now.

    We are going to be doing some serious fundraising fairly soon here and hiring several people for both development and business focused positions, so stay tuned for that. Cheers

    @maxentropy I understand what you are saying... I am sure there are ways to extend WordPress. Your code does not need to be PHP, there are language extensions that could provide the frameworks for your extensible model. You should investigation 'federation' models.

    Sure, we could build features into wordpress instead, but again I have worked with wordpress a ton and it really sucks to develop for, IMO. It's the difference between me loving my job and me hating my job haha

    Yeah, we could work in any language, it doesn't really matter. However personally I am most proficient in PHP, and that's what we have been building everything in so far, so not much sense in starting over with something else at this point (same argument goes for switching to WP)

    My sense is that the LTB space is being run by developers and NOT driven by business objectives.

    Can you clarify?

    Arguably, the objective should be to change the world... not in creating yet another a niche for the web people who happen to come across LTB website.

    so my thinking is that a year has passed with essentially no advancement of the project.

    I think your looking in the wrong places man. LTB is one website powered by the Tokenly CMS platform and other projects that we are building. The goal here specifically would be to become one of the primary media, news and community outlets for the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency ecosystem.

    Tokenly CMS is just one of the projects we are working on, with the ultimate goal of redefining monetization and user/community interaction on the web. Is that a sufficient objective?

    There has been tons of advancement over the past year, it's just not that obvious. Try checking out our stuff on github:

    @maxentropy Hi Crypto,

    Ahhh, competing with Wordpress is a terrible idea!

    People use Wordpress for many reasons, you guys not CMS people, you should be spending energy of on extending open source systems and not competing with them.

    I am not being personally difficult with you, but that is simply the worst idea I have heard.

    One of the reasons people choose Wordpress is for themes... this is not your business and there will not be the enough group theme developers to move your ideas quickly enough forward.

    On the other hand, if you do this... then other developers should take your idea add it into to Wordpress... and use Bitcoin, Doge, or Ripple micro payments. :-)

    Actually, I have built over a dozen wordpress sites before at my previous day jobs, built custom themes and plugins for it, and have done various work on dozens of other wordpress powered sites. I'v gone pretty deep through most of the source code, even directly integrating it into an entirely different framework and mimicking the user registration and authentication functions (don't ask...). Wordpress is good for some things, but as a programmer, I would go as far as saying that WP is an abomination.. the code behind it is pretty much the epitome of why many people consider PHP to be a terrible language.

    I would also argue that it is straight up irresponsible to use wordpress for anything that directly connects to and manipulates a bitcoin hot wallet. WP sites are notorious for getting hacked and being massive spam targets, and it doesnt help either that most people use a variety of random 3rd party plugins. Just sayin'

    You could definitely say that I'm a "CMS person". I came into this as a contracter for my website development business. I've built a few custom content management systems before and have worked with several others both open source and closed source systems. The goal also isn't really to get as many websites as possible using our system and try and totally overtake wordpress or something like that... it's more just building an open source platform for us to use building and releasing our own projects. If people like it and want to use it for building their websites, that's awesome, but we have so many project ideas in the works that it doesn't really matter.

    @maxentropy Additionally, as a platform - it would of interest if you were to open the payment coin to any coin rather LBTcoin if you plan to release the software for general adoption outside of your websites use.

    LTBcoin is just the experimental community token for LTB. There is going to be a different token which we will use across our ecosystem of projects, and many projects will likely have their own specific tokens as well.

  • Re: LTB Ideas

    @maxentropy Thoughts more...

    Focus more on how to syndicate or roll out the 'payment for participation' model to frameworks like WordPress.

    I would go further and use WordPress for you platform . That would force the thinking on syndication or federation of LTBcoin.

    The value proposition with LetsTalkBitcoin is currently narrow. The big idea is LTBcoin and this needs to benefit bloggers at large.

    I have said this before...

    Actually, our platform (the CMS, not necessarily LTB) is going to be competing with wordpress, and at this point it would be a massive amount of work converting features we have built here into wordpress plugins. However once all of our APIs are available, people can take those and incorporate similar features into other systems.

    As far as the UX and design stuff goes, we are in the process of hiring somebody to create a full redesign of the website, so that should all be addressed in the coming months.

  • Re: longer Magic Word

    @biontic @Adam - hey, thanks for extending the Magic word times - takes the pressure off and means that I don't miss any!

    Also just wanted to highlight a quick edit you need to make on the magic words page - it still says this

    "Each word can only be redeemed one time per listener, and they're only good for FOUR days from the release of the episode it was obtained from. "

    Keep up the great work. Love the shows and the endless stream of guests and commentary - a crucial way to keep up to speed on this ever expanding ecosphere.

    Nice catch, will get that updated!

  • Re: Could a centralized body create a cryptocurrency and keep mining details secret?

    If your a centralized entity and want some sort of control over all of it, you don't really need mining. The point of mining is basically a decentralized arms race for who can produce the most processing power and increase the cost of attacking the network, so it doesn't really make much sense for major banks to be competing against eachother with ever increasing amounts of hardware. They could still use blockchains and something that works very similar to BTC, but instead of permission to write transactions to the blockchain being given to whoever just solved the mining algorithm, it would just go to specific pre-authorized users. Something like Delegated Proof of Stake (DPOS) I guess, except that you wouldnt be able to vote for delegates.
