I cant remember what the name of the video card in my 286 computer was, but it it was really old, I think it might've been from matrox.

The first 3d capable card I had though was a voodoo3, used to play quake2 with it. :)

vodoo3dfx, I think its still my favorite graphics card of all time. I had version that had tv tuner built in so you could run video/cable through and record etc, was ahead of its time and relatively cheap when it came out. The tv tuner cards that come out even now seem clunky compared to that one imo.

Well for a VERY short while longer my DOS/9X gaming rig is still running its original S3 VIRGE/325 (2mb version).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S3_ViRGE

One of the very first, ever, 3d accelerator cards lol.

It has gone nicely with the:

Pentium 233Mhz MMX, 128MB SDRAM, Abit AT Motherboard (w/USB), Sound Blaster 16 (ISA), 28.8k ISA modem, 4 port USB 2.0 PCI add in, 3Com Etherlink Express 10BaseT (pci), and 2x3gb ata hardrives, 2x cd-rom one of which is a 4xdisc changer ;)

But alas, it is beginning to have problems displaying things, I think the pins inside the VGA connector are too worn...

As such, the S3 and 28.8k modem are getting ready to be pulled, and I am on the search for a 10-20gb HDD upgrade as well.

The S3 will be replaced with a PCI Radeon 9200 I found with 256mb, and the 28.8k is getting pulled for a full HW/accelerated 56k ISA modem on V90 protocol.

the only things left to upgrade after that will be the HDD (tried a 60gb but too big for the BIOS) and the RAM which can be upped to 256MB using either 30pin or SDRAM but not both :)

Oh no.. gonna make me bust out the Voodoo 2....

I think your Diamond Monster pre dates it, doesn't it?

But the Voodoo 2 had a VGA pass thru, so you have to daisy chain it.

edit: uhg, i see now it is a Voodoo 2... face palm

    here we go

idk if that's the 8 or 12mb. something tells me it was only 8.
