I haven't read the link you posted but answering to the topic's question I think that investors wouldn't be scared by the manipulation. The potential growth of bitcoin is really high and the low price can only attract more buyers.

Yes, I agree. I don't know if horrible is the right word. The majority of the sellers must think that the price is right. It'll make bitcoin more available to everyone.... which is one of the best things we can hope for.
The more it drop, the more I buy, simple as that :=)
The more it drop more buy . the more it rise more sell
The investors could scare, based on last week price. Just like maiden said, they are small amount of investors.

Knock on wood!
I think those of use who understand the benefits and potential of Bitcoin, and know how many man-hours and how much investment is going into developing around Bitcoin, are not scared off by the price. With so much good news about Bitcoin, I really see these lows as a buying opportunity.
However, when I talk to almost anyone outside Bitcoin, all I hear are comments like "Didn't Bitcoin lose billions?" "Isn't the price way down?" So I think that the low price definitely scares away new investors, especially those who don't know much about Bitcoin, but just see it as a way to make (or lose) money.
When Bitcoin was taking off towards the end of 2013, many people who knew I was into Bitcoin were asking me how to buy some. Right now, no one is asking me. I'm actually encouraging friends and family who expressed interest before, to buy now.
