Once it's regulated and the government takes 0.6 btc in every 1 btc you earn...then maccas will accept it.... but it will cost 5btc for a big Mac....I'm turning pessimistic lately

I am predicting that within 60 months there will be a lot more merchants accepting BTC as a form of payment. I think McDonald's will be included in this.

I think that the more the independent / small shops begin to accept Bitcoin - you'll see a shift in the trend. I'm not saying it can't happen at the same time. But if the small coffee shops all accept Bitcoin and start gouging the sales of the Starbucks of this world you may see quicker adaptation. Or you may see one bit name company do it and everyone else fall into line very quickly. But as one poster here pointed out, are people truly educated enough in Bitcoin to understand how a transaction would work if someone wanted to pay using it?

Believe me, it will, it's just a matter of time.
Here in Egypt, Mac started already dealing with something like this, but using "Etisalat" points.
Etisalat in the 3rd telecommunication service provider in Egypt.

If buying a synthesized "meat" product that doesn't decompose on its own for years is a sign of BTC mass adoption, maybe it's not worth the effort. I'm being sarcastic, but in reality, I don't see integrating bitcoin into point-of-sale systems as necessarily an important short-term indication of its success. What's more important is that people can earn bitcoin and exchange it freely and with as little friction as possible. Spending it in retail stores and fast food joints will only matter when enough of the population has access to bitcoin to move the needle. In the shorter term, preloaded gift cards and bitcoin debit cards will bridge the gap and not force merchants to spend money upgrading their systems to accept a still nascent payment system. AFAIK, McDonald's doesn't accept PayPal yet either (I won't eat there so I don't even know), but you can still spend your PayPal balance there by using a PayPal debit card (possibly US-only). Once the more established bitcoin services begin adding debit cards, you'll be able to spend your satoshis anywhere you want.
