why do people want private coins... do you have something to hide...
nothing is truly hidden these days unless you use cash...
if you think crypto can be hidden the you have no idea what the "bigbrother" can do...

You shouldnt need to have something to hide to have privacy in your finances or life in general.

Currently Dark Coin to the most popular anon coin. It uses maxing nodes to achieve anonymity, but only when you choose to use the dark send feature. Basically your coins go through 8 random mixing nodes before they reach the target address.
There's new anon coins like Monero and Boolberry that use a new cryptographic method to achieve anonymity. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in and explain it? The coins are still pretty new and extremely hard to mine and use. Took me a few days to set up mining and I still haven't learned to send my coins.

A true way to shake of any privacy intruders is to do the following: Suppose you have bitcoin, and people know your address, so they know where you're sending coin. Send you coin to an exchange, then cash out into a new address, the coins come from a hot wallet not linked to your old coins. You can check if it worked by looking at your deposit address's balance, it will still be there.
Now, at some point in time this balance will be send to one of the exchanges hot wallets, possibly the same wallet as the one who send you the coins to the new address. Then there exists a traceable link.
So the be completely undetectable:
Send bitcoin to exchange, exchange for other coin(litecoin for example). Then send litecoin to other exchange, trade it for bitcoin, and withdraw those bitcoin to fresh address. Why do you do this? You do this to eliminate the hot wallet future link problem. Your final withdrawel will be from a different exchange's hot wallet.
