What happens after the weekly disbursements?

So, when the 2.5mil are done going out to the community this week, then what happens? Will there still be LTBcoin that go out, just fewer of them?

Also, as a way to add value to the platform, I think you should reward quality of posts rather than quantity of posts. For example, a person who starts a thread that gets a lot of discussion should get more LTBcoin than someone that starts a spammy thread. Or, a person could get a LTBcoin-bonus for a comment they post that gets a like.

Speaking of spam---I've noticed it start to materialize here. Howe about a "spam" flag that we could use to flag it to a mod?

I think that the amount of LTBcoin awarded is just reduced. Participation is still rewarded, it was just rewarded more in the beginning so that there are enough coins 'in the wild' to encourage the use of those coins as they were intended.

I agree that a spam flag would be a good idea.

Each week during the first year the distribution size decreases by 1%. In the second year the weekly decrease is 2% and so forth until the distributions stop after 5 years.

You can help judge the quality of the posts by using the 'Like' button. Forum writers who collect for 'likes' also collect more of the rewards that are allocated for forum posters.

(I learned all this by listening to Bitcoins and Gravy yesterday.)

@william There is a BONUS promotion that has been going on for the last three weeks and that ends on Saturday about forum posts. Its only until saturday, but it was only a bonus.

The normal proof-of-participation distributions continue for another five years.

How many LTBC more is the bonus distribution per week (approximately), as compared to the first week's regular weekly distribution?

yeah, it seems like this will cause a dip in forum activity when it ends. but then again, every retail store goes through this when they have a big sale. so was this the equivalent of a "grand opening" sale?

I think I read somewhere that it's about 8k LTBc.

EDIT: Unless you were talking about overall, that I'm not sure of.

The distrabution to posters may not end in 5 years. There are a number of different ways I could see people still getting ltbc for posting in the future even if new coins arent created.(Not saying these will happen)

You could sell your signature space for ltbc. The forum could sell ads and a portion is paid out to the posters. Good posts will receive tips from other members(speaking of which if someone hasnt started yet might be worth getting a tipping bot for the forum)

these arent the only ways I can think of but you can get the idea.

Where did you find the information about how "likes" come in for participation? I'm guessing it is just a small portion that boosts the original. Is there a threshold of how many "likes" are needed before something is counted in favor?

In the podcast Adam mentioned that there was a pool of tokens allocated for forum posters but that the actual allocation was based not only on the number of posts, but also adjusted by the number of 'likes' that a post collected. That was it. End of story.

Since all distributions for forum posts are apparently ending sometime on Saturfay, additional details are not worth worrying about at this point IMO.

As part of the initial distribution, we set aside a portion of it for any forum users with 5 or more posts, but decided to split this across 4 weekly distributions in order to give people a chance to find out about it and also get their LTBcoin address setup in their account. Last one is this weekend.

The regular weekly distributions are based on your "Proof of Participation", which includes unique page views (pages you havnt visited already), forum posts, blog/article comments, magic words etc.
