@crimsonroze I've used a Samsung S4 for half a year or so now and it's been a frustrating experience since I've been going from the best phone ever to the successor of the best phone ever (a downgrade in my opinon) then over to what the mainstream consider a "flagship" phone. To me, that phone is, sadly, utter crap.

5 inch screen is to me uncomfortably big, even though I have rather big hands. I have a tablet to accompany my phone and use it for gaming and video - my phone is mainly used to pay for stuff with bitcoin, listen to podcasts and share internet to the tablet.

I'd love to do treasure hunts with GPS and coinding/geocaching but every single phone I've ever had just runs out of juice halfway through.

You mentioned no specification on memory expansion -- micro SD compatability. If that's the case, you can't go wrong with the unadulterated Android experience of a Nexus. It meets your specs AND is unlocked.

    -Cheers

@erreip ... Nexus. It meets your specs ...

It only has a 2300 mAh battery, so sadly, it does not meet my specs.

    I would've considered it otherwise.

Check Lenovo P780. It has a user replaceable 4000 mAh battery and it is 5 inches. It has the bonus of being dual sim. I read somewhere that Lenovo's Android was not great (no manufacture version is!), but you can always flash something else.

Honestly at this point it seems like you've done all the research. You may as well just go to a local store and have them let you play around with the latest models. Research is great and all, but if it doesn't feel comfortable in your hands it won't be worth it.

Check out gsmarena also for the latest info on each phone with detailed specs. This can greatly help. It took me 6 months to decide on a phone (LG Nitro HD) and I have had it since it first debuted in December 2012. It has been rooted and changed around so much but always been worthwhile as a phone.

I wouldn't worry too much about 720p and 1080p for the phone itself. Don't get a 4k HD phone (your battery will get destroyed). There are plenty of battery savings apps that can shutoff wifi and all that to help your retain battery life, but the main thing I have found it lowered the screen brightness to almost nothing.

The Lenove P780 is one of the candidates that actually meets my criteria for batter and it seems kinda nice. I'll take a 2nd look at it before I make a final decision.

    I suggest the blackberry q10 or z30!

Why? because you can install apps from google play and apple store! it has support for 4G and for NFC and it can create a hotspot!

the battery is smaller than your specifications Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery

If you pick a blackberry phone I can help you set it up and teach you how to install other apps on it ;)
