SEO: posting on LTB forums VS my own blog

Hi. I appreciate the opportunity to post on the forums of LetsTalkBitcoin, but I would also like to start my own blog.

Since it's hard to come up with two sets of original and useful content, it's temping to copy and paste every new entry form one place to the other. The questions is, which one should be first?

If you're concerned about SEO, you should know that Google & the search engines can usually spot "duplicate content", then take a guess which site had the content first, and then make sure to "punish" the site that allegedly stole the content from the "original" site.

However, Google does not monitor content on a daily basis, more like weekly or monthly. So if I copy an entry from my blog to this forum on the same day, Google might guesstimate wrongly that the form had the content first, and my blog stole it. Need I wait a week or two before copying an article from my blog to this forum?

Did anyone address this SEO penalty issue?

Thanks.

If your looking to start a blog, you might be a good candidate for running a blog on the LTB network using our platform. I would suggest contacting @adam

As far as the problem you describe goes, I believe there are ways to let google know where the original content came from. Im not too sure how it works between multiple different websites, but I know that if you have multiple pages with the same content but different URLs on your site, you can just add a to the pages to inform google which is the original. Look into canonical urls

Yeah the goal isn't to have you post on the forum, if your content is good (and you're writing articles, not forum posts) you'll wind up on the front page, which will opt you in to some of the LTBCOIN distributions.

To be in the Google news feed you have to "apply" which can take several weeks for a reply. If you fail to get in you have to wait several months until you can apply again. Worth taking into consideration and getting it right the first time. I could see it bringing a lot of traffic!

Yup I learned the hard way! :)

You can apply at the bottom, once you're happy. I think adding a separate news sitemap helps: https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/40787?hl=en#ts=3179198
