Counterwallet and the Dogeparty wallet are great tools for facilitating broader adoption of user created assets whether on the bitcoin blockchain (Counterparty) or the dogecoin blockchain (Dogeparty). They have a nice UI, are web-based, and for the most part intuitive.
In my experience the biggest learning curve is explaining to people that they need a small amount of bitcoin (or dogecoin) to make transactions in their wallet. This got me thinking; how could the UI be altered to make transaction fees more intuitive to the average user?
Using Counterwallet as an example, one solution is instead of displaying bitcoin as a tile under an address (like all assets held at an address) show instead a fuel gauge under each address.
Something like this, http://jqwidgets.com/jquery-widgets-demo/demos/jqxgauge/index.htm
This would be the default option (which can be toggled back to classic view in Settings for more advanced users). The fuel gauge will indicate full when a certain amount of bitcoin is deposited in the address (maybe have it set at 0.01 as a default with the ability to customize in Settings). As bitcoin is used for transaction fees the gauge will indicate less and less fuel linearly until 0 is reached and it shows empty.
Any thoughts?
