The premise, I'm heading on vacation in a little over a week. There's a 5+ hour drive to and from and down time for the week. The question, do you have any recommendations on either on this topic or more broad? Preferably in paper, but won't discourage digital. I've been been know to sit back with an O'Reilly Perl or Linux book for a leisurely read. I know it's against the norm but fiction isn't top of my list, but it does have a place. I've read the aforementioned as well as Tim Ferriss' books, and rounded out by biographies. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated. And if I end up going with a suggestion I'll be sure to kick back some LTBCOIN. Thanks all!

@kyleatlas If you haven't read it already, Outliers by Malcom Gladwell is one of my favorite reads of all time. It's essentially a study of high achievers and what makes them successful. Very doable in the time you will be traveling.

@adam Wow, awesome resources! Knocking it out of the park like always. I will definitely give these a look. I admire your level of involvement, nothing passive, and everything having that personal touch. Much thanks!
@therealtwig The only Gladwell book I've read so far is Blink which was a fairly quick and to the point read. Outliers looks intriguing, and killer reviews, and of course your recommendation, awesome! Thx

I agree. The Black Swan by Nassim Nicholas Taleb gives some great perspective to some of the follies of modern economists.
I also like The Big Short by Michael Lewis. It's very eye-opening account of the financial meltdown by an insider.
Finally, a good book for investors with some experience is Jackass Investing by Michael Dever. It basically debunks the most common investing myths and presents a great diversification strategy.

the role of the catalyst is to spark the tinder and grow the flame. Expect my activity to drop as it no longer means so much ;) Right now i'm about 1% of the involvement on the forum, down from 2% last week.

This is great, I'm getting a feel of the consensus. I'll be making the decision on Monday, but I have one (or two) in mind already!
@auryn_macmillan I hoped that would happen as well, a source of reference. I'll also be sure to write my thoughts on what I pick too.
@adam makes complete sense, and I appreciate this post being a part of the 1% great input!

I am reading Max Stirner's Dialectical Egoism: A New Interpretation http://www.amazon.com/Max-Stirners-Dialectical-Egoism-Interpretation/dp/0739141562
It's a radical form of individualism that came about from the ideas of the Young Hegelians and their ideals on free self-consciousness. Incredibly, this is the same school of thought that brought about Marxism and his ideas about alienation! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marx%27s_theory_of_alienation
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Hegelians#Max_Stirner
Stirner concludes that the other Young Hegelians have taken one abstraction - God and replaced it with a new abstraction - Humanism. From Humanism we get the concepts of equality, democracy, nationhood, objective truths etc that all subjugate the individual to a cause that is not his own. It's a great book!
