Yep. I understand that is how this thread started. And while that idea has merits, I don't think it will work.
I think it is too problematic to have the person that suggests an idea be completely separate from the person who is responsible for bringing it to life. I think it is problematic philosophically and technically.
Philosophical Problem
Generally speaking, ideas take little effort to generate and have little value. By comparison, produced content takes a lot of effort and has high value.
In other works, the value is in the execution, not in the idea. By rewarding the person who proposes the idea, the system places a high value on ideas. I think that is incorrect. We should reward the executors as much as possible and not those who are generating ideas.
Technical Problem
I believe matching ideas to produced content is problematic. Ideas could be partially filled by content. One piece of content could fill multiple ideas.
Consider complex ideas, like a short story, or a short film. I think what will happen often is that an idea creator has an idea, and then it is fulfilled by a content producer. Then the idea creator sees it and says "Hey - this wasn't my idea at all! What I meant was...".
But what about the Idea People
There is a place for those who just have ideas. These forums are a great place. Ideas can be discussed freely, and very likely content producers may take a their queues from ideas here.
But I believe that idea discussion should be free-form and not rewarded based on someone else's hard work in producing the content.
Summary
I propose we keep it simple with a more kickstarter-like model. The same person who proposes the idea should be the one who creates it.We should reward the hard work of content production and not the relatively easy work of thinking up ideas.
