As the pool of user assets across different metacoins (Counterparty, Mastercoin, NXT, etc) continues to grow, its important that each asset is easily identified and differentiated on the open market. I propose a naming convention to be used in instances when metacoin generated user assets appear among cryptocurrencies and user assets of other metacoins. To distinguish each asset, a suffix should be added to the asset symbol which identifies the metacoin protocol with which it's associated.
For example:
Maidsafecoin (MAID) will appear as MAID.MSC
LTBCOIN will appear as LTBCOIN.XCP
This convention only needs to be applied in mixed settings such as on a mixed exchange or on market data sites such as coinmarketcap.com. In those situations, it will be clear to all users the specific protocol and block chain on which an asset is created.
Thoughts?
