I just saw this on reddit:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2eh2du/with_the_mtgox_fiasco_being_long_forgotten_mark/

looks like mark has set up a webhosting company, forever.net. Ironically they don't take bitcoin! hahah

I didn't think this story was real, because it seems stupid of him to start up a business so soon after he screwed over so many people. but Mark himself commented in the thread. I checked his profile, Magical Tux. This was the first activity in about a year, and he's the moderator of /r/mtgox. and if you go to forever.net, it is indeed a webhosting company, and they're run by tibanne. so this appears to be real. some of the replies to mark's comments were... less than polite.

So now I guess it's time for the bitcoin community to raise awareness of this and get him shut down.. again.

here's another article about it, apparently it's been up in some form since may:

    http://newsbtc.com/2014/08/24/mt-gox-ceo-mark-karpeles-now-running-web-hosting-service/

    a quote from mark:

    Karpelès continued:

“Now with what happened with [Mt. Gox], not only Tibanne has a loss of revenue (losing our biggest >customer and all of Tibanne’s bitcoins) but also an increase in legal costs, not mentioning being able to >do our part in the MtGox bankruptcy process. As such we are now controlling expenses and focusing on >revenue generating in order to be able to do our part.”

“With Forever.net we make use of existing resources and provide services based on the technology we >developed over the years. In this case, the VPS servers are cluster backed, with an equivalent of RAID1 >over network cluster (GlusterFS with 2 replicas) on top of a RAID 5 physical storage with hot spare on >standby. I could go in more technical details but I am not sure that is what you want,” he wrote.

On the topic of cryptocurrency payments, Karpelès said:

“We are also considering accepting payments in BTC/LTC/etc. For information[,] Tibanne’s other hosting >service KalyHost.com has been accepting BTC since Sept. 2010 and generated since then a total >revenue of over 13000 bitcoins (we will soon be releasing a new version of the KalyHost.com website >too).”

Mr. Karpelès declined to speak about Mt. Gox-related matters, telling me “unlike other subjects I am able >to discuss Forever.net.”

I thought he was locked up. But, I haven't followed any of the news about him and I know very little about the justice system in Japan. Is he even still in Japan???

Yes. And the investigation is still on-going and might take years to resolve.

I really do not understand his business plan. How does he think to sell any service to anyone considering his reputation. Seriously, would you do business with him or his company?

Mark Karpeles is the guy that ran the Mt. Gox bitcoin exchange. Not sure if you have been keeping up on it, but somehow something like 800,000 bitcoins were "lost"/"stolen" and it was this huge scandal. Nobody even really knows what happened yet, but a shit ton of people lost a lot of money and it caused a big price crash. Thats about $500 million dollars lost by the way.

This blows my mind as well. I guess he hasn't been payng attention to his hate mail or something. He must be under the assumption that some people like him. I just can't comprehend why else he wouldn't just decided to be a hidden partner in this new venture. This makes me think he didn't steal any BTC, he is just infact a complete moron. The only other explanation is that this is all part of his master plan.
