If you paid people to tweet, I don't think you'd end up generating spam.
I really think this could be a powerful way to grow the network.
We just want to incentivize results. The referral approach means that it doesnt matter how you get people interested, only that they are interested and become normal users of the site. So if you're most effective on twitter, tweet it out! We're going to make it so there is a bit of profit motive to having a referrer so it won't be hard to convince people to do it.
I don't see how tweeting makes me a referrer, i.e. if a follower signed up, how would you know from where?
I'm not hating, I think LTB is awesome, I just think you could turn your audience into evangelists :-)
We will :)
And the incentive is for the evangelist to explain, sign up with me as your referrer and we both gain more than if you don't.
Seems like you're setting the bar very high, and I'm not 100% sure of the reason.
Let me give you a concrete example. One of my brothers is in advertising and mobile application development, one is in finance (credit rating information systems) and two of my sisters are artists. I'm into crypto, but they aren't. When I listen to an interesting episode that touches on the interests of one or other of my sibs, very occasionally I like to email them a link to the episode, probably using an 'email' button on the page for the episode (i.e. track-ably). IMHO, this is the best way to get them interested in the space and it's possibilities, much more so than a pure crypto talk. They may click back and listen (track-able) or, as is usually the case, just ignore me ;-) If they listen, it's growing the network, because they may learn something, share something and possibly sign up if they like to comment. In the far distant future, they may even understand LTBCoin, it's potential and it's value. However, my goals in the short term are more realistic, i.e. open their eyes to the space and some cool ideas.
When we see each other, we generally don't have time to cover the basics (like, how are you doing?) let alone make time for an introduction to a new field of study ;-)
OK, I could sit them down and sign them up, but I'm really not so clear on how that grows the network, as they'll likely never do anything with their account again.
I guess my approach would be to set the bar low, i.e. try to get more people to listen to more shows. A tiny fraction of which would convert into active users (a tiny fraction of a lot being enough).
Perhaps I don't understand your approach properly, or perhaps we just disagree on the best way to grow the network. I'll try to learn more, and of course, LTB is your baby, so I'll bow to your opinion.
Cheers,
Dan.
