What do you think of the idea of creating a plugin for other internet forums and social media platforms so they can implement LTBc? I am assuming popular forums/social media platforms have the feature for plugin usage?, such as:

phpBB

vBulletin

Simple Machines Forum

Wordpress

Tumblr etc.

It's just something that came in to my head and not an idea I have fleshed out in any meaningful way. Would it even be possible to distribute the coin over other forums and social media platforms?

EDIT: My idea is the success of LTBc could very well be down to getting the most users possible involved during the Proof of Participation faze of the coin's life. To do that the coin needs to be incorporated in to many other media platforms ASAP. To me, it seems the LTB platform is seen to be more important than LTBc. I feel the focus should be shifted to the coin rather than the platform.

I got nearly 50% of what you've said, but could you please elaborate more for what the plugin will be used ?

Oh wait, do you mean a plugin for the coins and on other platforms like vB, people tend to accept payments as LTBc, if this is what you mean, I don't see how will the plugin help here.

I'll premise this with the fact I have just got back from the pub and I had big argument with a so called "friend". What I am trying to say is I am not in the clearest mind right now!

Anyway, what I am thinking is, right now LTBc is exclusively used on letstalkbitcoin.com, we understand there's an incentive to participate with the reward of receiving LTBc.

There are maybe 2000 people here creating and participating. That puts the demand for the coin fairly low (2000 people). So, if the object is to increase the value of LTBc there are only two ways to do this -

    1. decrease the supply, (for example if there was only one Ferrari in the world it's value would be very high as the supply would only be one) that can not be done as the supply of the coin is set.

    2. Increase demand (for example If only one person wanted that one Ferrari the demand would be very low and that would decrease the value of the car, increase demand of something and its value increases too). We can increase demand for the coin by spreading the use of the coin to other platforms, as I mentioned in the first post.

So, the idea is to get more people wanting LTBc. The easiest way to increase demand is by taking it to other platforms rather than just using it here on this domain.

The plugin would simply be a way for people to receive LTBc on other places around the internet rather than getting people to come to this site.

    Does that make any sense?

Well, let me start first with your friend, since as you said, he is so called a friend, get over it, and deal with it as a past, make peace with your past and look forward.

Regarding the elaboration and illustration, 10/10, I like how you made things easy, thank you.

But instead of this hassle, what about providing my LTBc address and tell people to send me LTBc e.g. giving me your BTC address to send you coins for service you or gig you make.

    Got it dear ?

It doesn't really make that much sense in awarding LTBc to people for using other sites right now because we want to build the community over here. Tipping LTBc to users of other sites is different and @deweller is working on a tipping service that will probably do that eventually.

We did have quite a bit of discussion in the early days about whether we should call it LTBcoin or go for a more-general name like MediaCoin straight away, with the idea that it would eventually be used on other sites. In the end, we decided to start small, keeping in mind that one thing could morph into the other.

The LTB code is open source, so there is also the possibility that someone else could just pick it up and use it. So far, we have some advantage as first movers, though.

What advantage we are having as first movers brother ?

I would like as well to take this oppertunity to ask you, how do you see the future of LTBn and LTBc but from two prespectives, as a member in the LTB member and as a out of the team normal member/observer.

    Thank you.

Yes, I am not concerned with him any more. I was just explaining that I am a bit drunk and not really clear-headed in case what I am suggesting is not very coherent :P

OK, say we like a post on a platform other than this one (something external to letstalkbitcoin.com). We can tell the person to setup a counterparty wallet and send them some LTBc. With so few people using LTBc ATM that could mean maybe 10 people receiving LTBc perhaps every week that are on others sites. That does not increase demand for the coin very much, meaning the price will not increase by much, if at all!

If we create a plugin that works with tumblr, for example, then maybe we will have an extra 500,000 people interested in LTBc all wanting to show they are participating.

That would mean I am talking about a plugin that is based on Proof of Participation that works on platforms other than letstalkbitcoin.com. That would vastly increase the value of LTBc.

After thinking it through a little more I am thinking of a plugin that takes Proof of Participation to other sites. A simple plugin for popular social platforms would increase the demand for LTBc 1000s of fold. That will only do one thing - increase the value of LTBc.

Mentioned in my last post here -

Link me more please between Tumblr and LTBc.

I don't understand what you mean by that.

Does what I am suggesting make any sense to anyone? - making a plugin that works on platforms other than letstalkbitcoin.com based solely on Proof of Participation. Anyone using the platforms that the plugin works on could install the plugin and start receiving LTBc on the weekly payouts. That would increase the demand for LTBc and push the price for the coin up!

    Thank you.

The first-mover advantage is a slight one. It can't stop a larger community like reddit deciding to create their own coin that has a larger userbase (as it appears they will do). With that said, the value of LTBcoin depends primarily on its use as the exclusive token of the LTB network, which offers people certain niche things that other communities like reddit don't.

I'm not sure how you want me to take two perspectives on the future of the LTBn and LTBc. The success of both relies on community members working to provide value to that same community. This is why it is important to build great stuff that attracts a solid and loyal userbase and set the right incentives for members to do the same.

@page If we create a plugin that works with tumblr, for example, then maybe we will have an extra 500,000 people interested in LTBc all wanting to show they are participating.

The question is why would Tumblr use LTBc instead of creating TumblrCoin and controlling the distribution themselves? I think something like that might only happen when LTBc has reached critical mass.

Awarding LTBc on lots of smaller websites could be a possibility because they might not have the resources to create and manage their own coin, but then you're probably risking the growth of the LTB network at such an early stage. This is probably an argument for us creating MediaCoin in parallel with LTBc, which could very well happen.
