People who are living comfortable lives are aware of realities like those described in the song to various degrees (although many are oblivious). Hardly anything is done about the problems because many of the comfortable people are satisfied with the mirage they create (with the aid their societies and governments), which enables them to disassociate themselves from it all.
There are many comfortable people who are more conscious of the problem. These people who are more aware are obviously dissatisfied. There is a difficulty, however, in knowing what to do about it. This is very frustrating. I'm fairly confident that things will gradually improve over time, because that seems to be the direction in which we've been headed over the centuries.

I agree with you there. In observing both the world and myself, I see where comfort breeds complacency. Even when I’m conscious of the process I still have to snap out of it sometimes. If there's one odd thing I like about Bitcoin is how difficult it can be to use somethimes (compared to fiat). That difficulty keeps me more focused and working on my online security.
I wonder about the direction we’re heading over the last few centuries through. I stay optimistic, believing Bitcoin and open decentralization can save us from ourselves. But looking around, I see recent wars, a century of eugenics and the growing societal panopticon and can’t help wonder.
Too late now, already took the red pill and there’s no going back.
