So this is basically the same as Shopify enabling Bitcoin. Its a good start. No doubt incredible news that PayPal is even considering this, too. Not quite the full PayPal integration we'd hope for, but ... baby steps.

Now if only someone could figure out how to get consumers to give a flying flock of seagulls about Bitcoin. :)

its close though. I guess BrainTree is the primary developer and platform in development for paypal now though so it could start to be integrated with everything. And in the conference the guy specifically said multiple times that it was "paypal's first forray into bitcoin"

... our v.zero SDK will make it seamless for developers and merchants to add bitcoin to their existing payment methods and provide an elegant, adaptive user interface for consumers to pay in bitcoin with their Coinbase wallet ..."

I sure hope this isn't the beginning of a fragmented bitcoin wallet ecosystem. Have a coinbase or a personal wallet? Oh sorry, that won't work. Paypal is only compatible with a Coinbase wallet.

I think it's likely they are assuming most users will want to be able to accept Bitcoin, but they won't necessarily want to hold Bitcoin. So they'll tell all PayPal users they can now accept Bitcoin, and not worry about holding Bitcoin (accepting Bitcoin will be like accepting VISA via PayPal -- the seller just receives USD, regardless of how the buyer pays). I'm not saying this is the only way it will work, but I bet that's the main way they'll roll it out.

The good news is that it will work with all wallets in the end. We happen to have a pretty good source on that ;)

The news triggered a small pump in price but then the drop seems to continue. If we got this revelation in 2013 the price would have spiked to 2000$ in few days, I can't understand why great news don't affect the value this year.

@egatervomitivo That is huge. Do you think we will hear tomorrow the word "bitcoin" at Apple's keynote?

No mention of bitcoin in the Apple Pay presentation (or any other cryptocurrency for that matter).
