In Satoshi We Trust LLC (ebx and markxmayer) is proud to present Walletgenie. Walletgenie is a CLI RPC frontend to digital currency daemons written in Python and runs cross-platform. You need to be running your own Bitcoin and (optional) Counterparty node for this to benefit you. We currently support Bitcoin-Core and Counterparty-Server, but have designed the program to be modular so that more coin daemons can be added. Feel free to contribute a plugin for your favorite coin.

Walletgenie has ShapeShift integrated, so you can ShapeShift Bitcoin and supported Counterparty assets directly from the wallet. Our goal is to support most if not all of the ShapeShift supported assets.

Walletgenie has Lets Talk Bitcoin! username lookup support for verified Bitcoin/Counterparty address. We plan to also support netki.com and openname.com name lookup as well.

Current Features

  • Communicates with RPC daemon(s) on local machine or via network.
  • Plugin design for multi-coin support. Currently supports Bitcoin-Core and Counterparty-Server.
  • ShapeShift integration. Shift Bitcoin and supported Counterparty assets right from your wallets.
  • Lets Talk Bitcoin! username lookup support for verified Bitcoin/Counterparty address.

Bitcoin Plugin

  • network status
  • balance
  • send
  • new receive address
  • import private key
  • encrypt wallet/change password
  • auto-unlock/lock for transactions or manually unlock for multiple transactions
  • sign/verify messages

Counterparty Plugin

  • network status
  • asset balances with divisibility and lock status
  • send assets
  • create assets (free and paid)
  • issue additional assets
  • lock your assets from additional issuances
  • change the descriptions of your assets
  • transfer your asset ownership to another address
  • make a broadcast on the network

Very interesting project! Okay so explain to me the situations where you expect people to find Wallet Genie useful?

    @adam Thanks for the interest.

Well we initially just wrote it for ourselves, but figured others may benefit from it too. I run a Counterparty federated node as well as local full nodes for several alt coins (litecoin, dogecoin, etc.) I was sick of trying to remember all of the commands and parameters to create sends, assets, etc. and figured that I must not be alone in that situation. My code-fu is not so strong (read weak), but I made a very simple version that implemented the basic functions in a wizard-like fashion - to prompt me through the process. It worked enough to save me some time and frustration.

I sent it to my business partner (ebx), and he found it equally useful. He rewrote the entire thing and together we took it to a higher level - modularity to add more coins (to support all my daemons, and ultimately all the ShapeShift supported coins) and ShapeShift integration so that I can Shift coins right from the command line.

Adding the LTB usernames just makes it so much easier than copy/paste of addresses. I was thinking it would be great if the Swapbots could have "LTB names" so that walletgenie users could send to the bots directly too. We plan to add onename.com and netki.com names (which will get us tip.me (Changetip) support too).

I admit that not that many people will be running bitcoin-core and/or counterparty-server on their LAN, but for those that do, I think they will find walletgenie to be a time saving tool. We have many more features that we plan to add (bulk sending/distributions, dividends), but we wanted to get this level of functionality out so that we could get feedback.

That makes sense, it's a narrative interface for dealing with daemons. We're working right now on how we want Swapbots to be discoverable but yeah we'll have some exciting opportunities for you soon.

Well said - as always. It also conjures up interesting images. I may use that if you don't claim a TM :) I look forward to the opportunities as they arise.

We added Netki Wallet Names support to walletgenie. Now you can enter either an LTB username or a Netki Wallet Name instead of an address. Netki supports bitcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, namecoin and open asset protocol, along with Tether USD, EUR and YEN addresses. For more info about Netki Wallet Names, check out their page at https://netki.com/#/home
