Importing Private Keys Using Bitcoin-QT

I recently used an ATM to purchase a small amount of bitcoin. I printed a random paper wallet which is not as secure as I'd like. I use bitcoin-qt. I imported the private address via importprivkey. bitcoin-qt automatically found the public key. What I want to do is transfer from the private web wallet to a more secure address in bitcoin-qt. Also, I want to see how many bitcoins each private key holds. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Questions:

  1. What is the difference between 'account' and 'bitcoinaddress'?
  2. Can I send between addresses in the same wallet? Without transaction fees?
  3. Should I generate a bitcoin QR receiving address in bitcoin-qt for the next time I got to an ATM?
  4. Is there a better client to use?

The following are possible relevant commands:

getaddressesbyaccount "account"

getbalance ( "account" minconf )

getreceivedbyaccount "account" ( minconf )

getreceivedbyaddress "bitcoinaddress" ( minconf )

importprivkey "bitcoinprivkey" ( "label" rescan )

listaccounts ( minconf )

listreceivedbyaccount ( minconf includeempty )

listreceivedbyaddress ( minconf includeempty )

sendfrom "fromaccount" "tobitcoinaddress" amount ( minconf "comment" "comment-to" )

sendtoaddress "bitcoinaddress" amount ( "comment" "comment-to" )

setaccount "bitcoinaddress" "account"

Thanks in advance!

If you use listaccounts, you will see a list of all the wallets with labels if available.

If I understand what you want to do, I think you need to "enable advanced coin control" by going to Settings Menu, Options, Wallet Tab and checking the box. Now when you go to Send, you will see the "Inputs" button where you can select the wallet source(s) for the send. You can select the imported key you want to send from, and then send to whatever address you'd like. As far as I know, sending between your own wallets is the same as sending to any other address - including fees.

    Thanks,

There is the "display coin control features" option under Settings > Options > Display which allows me to see the keys I have. What I needed to do is run "bitcoin-qt -rescan" at the command line. I don't think it can be done from gui afaik (unless you include the rescan option when you import the private key.)
