I just noticed that along with the LTBcoin distribution I also received a small amount of BTC in my counterwallet. I understand how counterparty works and why small amounts are required to make transactions but where did these BTC come from?

edit: Also, what are this EARNFREEBTC coins... scam coin no doubt?

That little bit of BTC is part of the transaction, as you say. A Counterparty transaction is a regular bitcoin transaction with the Counterparty data tagged on, so that is the BTC part of the bitcoin transaction, over and above the miner's fee..

Here's the lowdown on EARNFREEBTC by @Cryptonaut.

EARNFREEBTC is a dividend paying asset built on the CounterParty protocol. It represents all profit made from http://earnfreebitcoins.com , a pet project of mine that has been running since late 2012.

Here is how it works: @Cryptonaut gives you EarnfreeBTC, as your share, ignore that. XBTC is what you get from him. The EarnfreeBTC is just the amount of share you get. To stop this, go to settings and uncheck Receive occasional free tokens to my Counterparty compatible address

One of the LTB users here created it not exactly sure about what it is myself but you can learn more here.

Not-related random question: does anyone know why counterparty's fees are 0.005 BTC, but my account is never debited exactly 0.005?
