When I was back in Florida visiting my Dad. He showed me a couple of videos of this massive blues / rock festival that Eric Clapton puts on every few years. Amazing. There was a female guitarist, she rocked! Any idea who she might be?

You must be thinking of Susan Tedeschi. I have seen her several times and she is fantastic. However Carolyn Wonderland is the hottest female rock n roll guitar player on the planet by far. I have seen her dozens of times and she never disappoints.

Thanks. I was going to Google it but wanted to interact with someone who could tell me the answer. Plus now I know of another guitarist to check out.

Sorry. I am not an opera fan. My preferred players are steeped in the blues. As a player myself I can appreciate virtuosity on the instrument, but that doesn't mean I will rate them on my list.

There is also the matter of personality. I know several young punkers and old speed/death metal thrashers who, despite limited chops, manage to inject more personality into their music than YM ever did.

Hey I get people who are huge Yngwie fans and I have no problem with this. The dude died way to young and maybe could have morphed into one of the best. But he just didn't happen to come from a musical direction that interets me.

Cobain was a genuis songwriter, but his guitar playing was pretty perfunctory. For example, you wouldn't really expect much of anything from a Cobain guitar solo. I mean I see where you are coming from as the music is great, but if you go there then you have to rate Bob Dylan as a guitar hero. Now Willie Nelson is an example of a singer/songwriter who can actually play a lick as well so they do exist.
