Difficulty in hash rates adjusted if this new power never hits the ecosystem, is only a bonus for current miners. But sadly damages bitcoins reputation to current adopters or first time exposure to becoming a miner. It hurts everyone longer term, and it's not a simple issue of well screw BFL. From My view with coins being mined btC needs a clearly expansive adoption rate to grow, and damaging it becomes exponentially weighty to price action.
