@asdolino I agree and I am now following 5 different forums on this site. I'm spending a lot of free time on the LTB forums :)

@pooktwo Hello, my name is Robert and I am the admin for FoldingCoin. Sorry about not seeing this forum, i have been updating the original posting http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/asic-proof-altcoin-on-counterparty but i will now pay attention to this one as well. The website for our coin is http://www.foldingcoin.net
@rendra666 @doretum @lucisroxas @sammir @redsn0w @setthino @noobdan @phillert @catlinhappy FLDC is a new type of altcoin that is built ontop of CounterParty so therefor does not depend on its own blockchain. The purpose of FLDC is to not mine a coin but rather help stanford with its Folding@Home http://folding.stanford.edu/ software that uses your computational power to help develop medicines that can help humanity. Then you are given a token for your participation. Half a million are distributed a day and are divided depending on the amount of participation. More folders = Less coins per participant.
@wct296 @goldbit @TheHashBuster @LittleShibe @feryjhie @rouf553 @Alchemix We decided to distribute to the LTB community for two reasons, one of which you are right, to help spread the awareness. The second is because this community uses LTBCoin so therefor is familiar to how CounterParty works. We distributed 500,000 amongst 1,327 users, working out to 376 each. We did put the website in the description before the airdrop, but im curious if it worked as a link, does anyone know?
@paolo09 It would be nice to have a scrypt but through our research on Stanfords website, this program seems very secure and while you are using your computer it will just run in the background. Also it is set as the lowest priority so all other programs you run will slow down the folding while you work, then once your done it continues on your selected speed.
@MattBrown @th1s-co The reasons we feel we have the upperhand on curecoin (and gridcoin) are as follows (also below discribes another grid computing community call BOINC http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ that we initially looked at helping):
Gridcoin (and curecoin) have their own blockchain that they have to upkeep as for FoldingCoin utilizes the CounterParty protocol that is built ontop of Bitcoin. Basically you gain the power of the most secure blockchain that is Bitcoin instead of relying on an Altcoin chain that could potentially be 51% attacked.
I did alot of research on BOINC before going with Folding@Home and although BOINC has some great projects on it, i feel the development behind Folding@Home is much further along and has more stability than a majority of the BOINC project. Also of all the grid computing projects thus far, Folding seems to be the most beneficial to society (that is obviously an opinion though and i do love many of the BOINC projects)
Besides Bitcoin, Folding@Home has the largest grip computing network in the world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_distributed_computing_projects and is backed by Stanford University
Since most Bitcoin miners invested primarily into ATI cards, Folding@Home makes it very simple to use ATI for their projects, as for BOINC has alot of NVIDIA projects and CPU projects but not many ATI.
For the general user BOINC is not out of the box, it can be confusing for those that are not tech savvy. Folding@Home however is designed for anybody to be able to download and start Folding right away.
@Maygor I find this wierd to that BlockScan says it is not locked. If you look on your wallet though, you will see the lock in the lower right corner. I contacted CounterParty and they assured me that it is locked, they said i need to contact BlockScan as they are indepedant from eachother. I will be sending an email to BlockScan
@cedesl0v Here is our distribution history including the LTB addresses that helped us to distribute them. http://foldingcoin.net/index.php/distribution-history/
@Disengage what we are trying to make happen with the coin at FoldingCoin.net is to make it a currency for MeetUp groups. This week @FBSoulMan and I will be advocatin this at different events. I will be attending as many MeetUps in my local area this week, hoping to hit at least 10.
The reason why we have decided to try and make this a coin for MeetUp groups is as follows:
For nonBTC MeetUps-many people have a hard time understanding what gives BTC value, we feel this is an easier sell to people not in the space as the research behind the coin is what gives it it's value.
For BTC MeetUp groups we will advocate that what gives this altcoin value is that it does not depend on its own blockchain like all other altcoins, therefor you do not have to worry about our Dev team not keeping up with security patches and such, this is covered by CounterParty and the BTC Foundation
this is a great way to introduce people to not only BTC, but the abilities of the blockchain for NonBTC MeetUps, I'm sure that at least one MeetUp I go to will have one person interested in making their own coin possibly even for their MeetUp
for Mining MeetUps and AltCoin MeetUps this introduces a coin that is currently ASIC proof and will be for sometime. An Anton supercomputer is required to be an ASIC for this coin and that is not ready for the public.
MeetUps are people wanting to get together to share a common interest without the exchanging of money for each other's time (mostly), so since this can be done easily by the most novice user (unlike CGminer) I feel most people would love to generate these coins that they can use to tip eachother at MeetUps
@devonne The LTB network has a program that helps us mass distribute so that is why we are on LTB
I dont think any post should be this long again as i will now keep up. Thanks everyone and i hope you help us Fold and earn some coins :)
Thanks for the answer
