I would really like some sort of realtime recommendation engine that shows similar articles to the one that is being read, and other article suggestions to get people to click around and view more content. Also, a trending articles list. Maybe another way to suggests highly-trafficked or highly-rated articles. As it is, the website is pretty static. You only see the new articles, not the oldies-but-goodies.

  I think this would be useful as well. It could maybe even show trending threads related to relevant article discussions.

  I know a redesign with new features is in the works. One being search, as I'm sure this topic has previously been posted. I like your suggestions though, neat to see more implemented.

  All great ideas and like Jayek has said there is a redesign in the works so not sure how many changes we will see till that comes out but hope they include a couple of them in the new design. A trending articles list would be nice but for right now with only one or two new articles a day it would almost be static for the day as the new articles hold that spot till a new one comes out.

  To expand on the list idea a top 10 must read or highly recommended list would be nice for the new users that are just starting.

  It's true that only a couple of articles are published a day. However there are MANY articles that have been published in the past. I am thinking of a recommendations engine that measures certain aspects of previous articles like total views, comments, etc. in order to recommend the good ones to new readers.
