First time posting here. After watching the drama on Factom between the idiots of bitcoin and Paul snow - I felt it was time for me to weigh in.
Put simply: Factom might be the most disruptive a technology I've ever seen.
Before factom, sharing your checksums was not only difficult - it was filled with censors at every turn. EVERYONE ignores this fact, and it simply must be noted that you cannot reasonably expect to put your checksums on twitter, or a copy of your data on archive.org without passing the censoring agency.
What @brighton36 misses is that there are huge institutions dedicated to censoring this content. Even if the honduras deal doesn't go through, what matters is the technology. No longer will we have to sit idly by and let the governments of the world censor our checksums. With factom - we can checksum all things, and store it in a database that they can't take away from us.
This is far bigger than archive.org and much more useful. It's about consensus. consensus to checksum. People will pay lots of money to store their checksums in this system for that reason.
Twitter will never allow random checksums into their system without approval from the gatekeepers . And archive.org doesn't even support storing checksums - so ignore the trolls @Paul,! Keep up the good work!
