Ethereum: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

I got some, not as many as I would like tho
If I read their website correctly, part of the purchase process includes getting a wallet and a password however you don't actually get any tokens until after the genesis block is created this winter. Is this really a 6 month fully trust-based transaction?
So can someone who has purchased some ether describe the purchase process. If you have to get a wallet, what is it like? Web-based? Downloadable? What platforms or other requirements?
Yes I will probably get some myself, but since they are giving us almost 2 weeks before the price goes up, I intend to take some time and get better informed about some of the specifics before making the leap.
We have tomorrow Etherum meetup in Amsterdam, i will ask there all you question and will post answer later.

The wallet is a .json file. Vitalik has set up some Python tools on GitHub that address your concerns and more:

Just curious, why do so many people on bitcointalk insist that ethereum is a scam?
The main reasons for that I would guess are that there is no guaranteed return and the market cap for ETH is not limited. But I think those are just voices from a profit-oriented mindset.
Maybe people just can't believe that a no-promises crowd sale can fetch the Ethereum guys that much BTC. Such people don't realize that a lot of this is based on faith, not actual guarantees of profit.
Ethereum also publicly announced in their terms and conditions that they do not promise anything and that they might not deliver. Being honest like that makes them an easy target for being called a scam.
Do you think its worth 1 btc to get 2000 ether in return? Do any of yall see the value going up? I read somewhere that there is no cap for ether so there wont be a market cap. How can you determine the value without a limitation to the coin amount?
