i think proof of charity is better for this or any other application, so long as it provides the same security & incentives as proof of burn. may as well have the money go somewhere.

Dogecoin has built it's entire community around being a donation oriented currency. I think offering an example of proof of charity is a better idea as it will also help dogeparty to distinguish it's self from counterparty's proof of burn concept.

Proof of charity sounds like a wonderful concept. It takes all the advantages of proof of burn, and uses the funds for good.

Proof of Charity seems very interesting and as a high level concept probably has a better chance of getting more people involved than just proof of burn. Proof of burn requires one to be a believer of the coin in question, where proof of charity allows one to not only believe in the token but also (or instead) in the recipient charity.

I don't like the idea of charity. Generally, charities can't see past their noses as they are mainly concerned with very short term gains at the cost of long term.
I gave Eritrea as an example, granted this is concerned with foreign aid, but I see this as similar to charity in that it forgoes private sector solutions.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreign_aid_to_Eritrea
"Eritrea now rejects foreign aid and aspires to be a self-reliant nation, viewing aid as a way to cripple a society."
I have heard Eritrea is in fact now self-reliant in regard to food production.

hmm what if you gave people both options? Proof of Burn for those that don't like the selected triumvirate or charity; and Proof of Charity for those that do like the decisions?

Both are good options, however I prefer proof of charity.

Yeah this remains true to the doge spirit and will probably prove popular with avid doge fans!

In the DogeParty Skype, I brought up a few ideas.
BOGO - BurnOneGiveOne
This is a hybrid of both PoC and PoB. I personally don't think PoC should be limited to charities so the name itself is a problem. It would be better to call it a Proof of Giving, Proof of Pledge, Proof of Good, Proof of Donation or something generic that can allow for a more inclusionary effect whereby donations can go to not only charities but also to ANY crowdfunding campaign or a crowdsale or traditional fundraisers and so on... With that said, if their is any altcoin that could use some burning (cremating?), it is DOGE.
So, for every DOGE burned, simulatneously give DOGE to recipient entity (vetted and voted?). This type of donation theoretically would increase the value of the donation. That seems to be the best outcome as opposed to just using one or the other proof type.
Another idea I brought up was bringing in the concept of "matching funds"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matching_funds
This can be applied to my BOGO idea or the PoC as it has already been described. I think it would be better if matching is done against burned DOGE. In this system, You would find donor entities (companies, orgs, philanthropists, community pooled funds etc) willing to donate to charities (or like I said earlier, any crowdfunding campaign based on vetting and voting consensus) by matching dontation (value of burned DOGE at the time).
dogefood for thought.
