Do you think we're finally gonna see the mining difficulty drop some?

If miners end up too far in the red by continuously dumping (I'm not saying that this is necessarily the cause of the price drop), do you think we'll see some of these larger operation shutting down which would then cause a drop in the difficulty? Not a huge drop, but from what I recall there hasn't been a downward adjustment since the first couple difficulty changes back in 2009/2010.

With the current trend, yes I think we may see a diff drop in the near future.

Miners usually mine for tomorrow, but with price going down, for sure some will shoot down, or at least no one will expand. But things move so fast that maybe in a month all we talk here will be just useless bla bla.

Yes with btC price falling, there will be a point that cost to run mining rigs out weigh potential btc in nominal dollar terms so anyone doing math will take older machines offline.

Higher btC price and less efficient machines stay online increasing difficulty rate

The inverse is also true here in a declining price environment.

yep I think we are starting to get pretty close to the point where some miners are going to be forced to shut down or start losing money everyday

look here for the green line, it predicts the next difficulty. So we see its on same level atm, no up no down. All depends of total hush rate. And yes often when price drops many miner stoping then, but when price goes back up again and miner all jump on the train you will see a very big jump in difficulty.

Probably the difficult will drop for a couple of months but then in my opinion it will rise right away.

Nice, maybe I'll be able to pump a few more satoshis out of my block eruptors! jk. It might dip slightly but not enough to allow non-farm individuals to profit from once profitable rigs.

Difficulty up .98% as of today.

By far the smallest increase in difficulty in the past year.

EDIT - The formatting on this forum is terrible. Click the link above, and scroll down to "Difficulty Historty". You can see a list of difficulty increases going back into 2013. I was unable to find a list in this format going back further. If you know of one, please ling it.

for short term like a month difficulty could drop a little or hold on. but why it should not rize in the long term. miners use new material new hashrates happen so difficulty will rize no matter what if we speak here about bitcoin. If you look some other coin and a coin what is dying then yes its a early sign of a dying coin the difficulty drops and A reduction in network strength is an early warning sign of a dying coin too.
