Disruptive Crypto Politics

Had a funny thought the other day that is half a joke and half serious. Sometimes the best ideas are generate from these types of things, so I thought I would put it out there.

With the endless frustration of the people in the obvious and blatant corruption in politics, perhaps we (the crypto community) could start making a difference in how things are done on Capitol Hill. (This is decidedly a post for the United States but could be applied world-wide in many countries.)

If the money interests own the politicians, and special interest groups make the regulations that control the little people, why don't we become/create a crowd funded crypto anonymous special interest group that "supports" (bribes) politicians to make laws favorable to the people? It could be done with an altcoin or side chain coin. It could have a fun name like SIGcoin (special interest group coin) or DARK BRIBE coin (my favorite, keep the origination of the donation anonymous) or CCPACC (crypto currency Political Action Committee coin) ... the possibilities are limitless.

Logistically this would be an obvious problem. How do you decentralize something that is inherently centralized in nature? Politically an impossibility because everyone's politics are different for the most part, but MAYBE NOT. Maybe there is one area we are all in agreement with. What if we concentrated on the topic of bitcoin/crypto regulations, as in preventing anything that limits crypto and enabling anything that allows the free-flow of crypto?

Let us start using their dirty poker against them. Give them an offer they can't refuse. HAHA! Just having fun.

Your post reminded me of a new Kickstarter project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1098441692/democracy-now and the idea that we can all make a difference to the politics of where we live and potentially the whole planet by making our opinions known instantly. I notice the amazing rise of internet petitions for everything from saving the Great Barrier Reef to legal and political injustices. Anyway, an intriguing post.

The Democracy Now kickstarter project in the above post helped solidify an idea that has been forming since I posted this thread. I just let it out before I forget about it or it gets jumbled up in the head, so here we go.

There might be a real idea here!

It would require someone to set up a crowdfunding political issue site.

Lets use this for an example of an issue: Bitcoin should be officially tax-free for all transactions and should be ignored by the IRS. (wouldn't that be nice?)

Crowd fund the idea to generate interest. Once the funding reaches a certain stage (stage 1) indicating a significant interest in the idea, farm the idea out for adoption.

Adoption could be by a legal team of a special interest group or a "law maker" politician. The adopter would author legislation and starts the political process to make it a law. People that have contributed to the stage 1 funding get a coin to vote on approval of the legislation before it is submitted to the process.

For the adopter, the incentive, in part, will be that they will receive a significant portion of the stage 1 funding, all within legal political contribution limits per individual donation/transaction.

Now lets say we have a crowd approved bill that is in committee and looking for action. Here is where the fun begins. Stage 2 funding starts and everyone gets in on the action to buy a law. Everyone that supports and votes for the bill will get an equal part of the stage 2 funding, all within legal limits and all that junk. The greater the number of people involved in funding the bill, the more incentive it has to be pushed through the system.

Now here is the best part... Nobody gets paid anything UNTIL the bill is signed into law. NOBODY. If an idea doesn't get adopted and signed into a law, the bitcoin gets refunded to the contributors. That is the incentive to keep junk from overrunning the system. The broker site would receive a significant fee from the donations for the services of hosting all this data, bitcoin distribution and legal crap. That is the incentive for anyone who wants to set this up.

The initial dangerous side to this would be some kind of slippery slope away from the safeguards of a representative republic and perverting it into some kind of monetary democracy, where democracy would be realized by less than 50% of the voters. (Again, I am talking about USA political system here, but there is no reason this couldn't go international as well.)

The real challenge here is to find enough people that give a crap about the political world AND that are aware of crypto AND that would be willing to spend small portions of their hard earned money to help their own causes. That is a pretty tall order because it would require a large number of participants to overpower large money interests. But perhaps if we build it, they will come. Perhaps.

While I agree making our opinions know is important, that alone won't change anything.

The above crypto political disruption idea comes from a more cynical view of politics and government. It seems obvious to me that the only time they listen to our opinions is when we are about to revolt en mass. They know what our opinions are. They work for the money, and we need to become the money. Then maybe they will work for us.

I might have to create a coin for this called LMBcoin - LetMeBeCoin. No seriously, just let me be. That new legislation that takes power from the individual and adds power to government - nah nah, Let Me Be.
