I've been wishing for a proper general Bitcoin job board, which anyone can post to and which LTB would also be able to use for its own jobs -- not sure if that's actually what Adam is proposing.
Right now, there are not many options to choose from. They range from the very basic http://www.reddit.com/r/Jobs4bitcoins to https://coinality.com/ that looks like a good start but really not quite there, to http://bittask.com/ that's plagued with earn-free-bitcoin spam.
I think the LTB community would be a great platform for creating, jump-starting and promoting such a system. In the FIAT world, I used to use iFreelance when I was starting out, but they let the system degrade and, at least in the writing sphere, there aren't any quality jobs on there any more.
Anyway, we can discuss the mechanics in more detail if there's interest, but here are some key points:
Clients post jobs and state if they are offering a fixed bounty or want to receive price bids, plus some other options that will help filter the right jobs to the right people.Providers can post their profile, that includes their skills, description and portfolio of downloadable files/images.Jobs are classified into clear categories and eventually sub-categories.Providers can subscribe to get notifications for the categories that interest them.Providers send in their bids through the system. The Client establishes the length of the Bidding phase of the job posting, after which it goes into an Awarding phase, then "Working" and finally the job is marked as "Completed".Providers need to easily see if a job is still open for bids, or is in the Awarding phase, to avoid wasting time. When a job is completed, both parties leave a review and rate each other on a number of points. For example, Providers are rated on quality, value, punctuality and communication. Clients are rated on communication and speed of payment, and also have a tally of what percentage of their projects that attract bids are actually awarded (to discourage time-wasting). If a job is awarded to a Provider found by other means, it can be marked as such, but the Client's reputation is penalized for leaving open jobs that they are no longer interested in awarding. There also needs to be a mechanism to avoid spam and maintain a general quality of jobs (or at least move low-quality jobs to their own section). This could be a combination of paying to post a job and moderation. There's nothing worse than reading through a long and detailed job posting to find that the client is expecting a free article first to see "if we're a match".Thoughts?
