So Pokemon cards, tazos, yu-gi-oh cards etc all work on the same model. Buy a random pack of cards, build a deck, compete and enjoy.

There is no reason that this cant carry over to tokens.

Buy a cryptographically assured random pack of tokens, build a deck/portfolio, trade with others and compete online etc.

That is waiting to happen.

Every good idea has already been taken, this already exist http://www.spellsofgenesis.com/

And you can earn an exclusive card from Spells in addition to BitCrystals on the Merged Folding platform using your computer to do cancer research http://foldingcoin.net/spells-of-genesis/

Plenty more ideas will come out of the blockchain, I don't think we have seen the start.

damn.... I literally had the exact same idea man. Collectible trading coins! Buy booster packs of 10 random coins (potentially rare and super rare ones) for 0.01 BTC or something :p

Haven't really looked into the Spells of Genesis thing much until now, seems pretty cool. Seems almost more like a browser RPG though.

What I have been thinking is something pretty much exactly like Yu-Gi-Oh or Magic the Gathering. Collect cards either by buying or trading from other players, winning them somehow or by buying booster/starter packs. Compete against other players in the same style of game - each players "deck" gets randomized, they pick up 5 coins to start, each one represents a monster or specific trap or power. Place coins on the battlefield and take turns attacking eachother etc. If you have played either game you know what I mean. Would be cool also to have a "game pot" that is up for grabs for whoever wins each match or each tournament (entry fee for each player maybe), add some profit motive :)

I am totally down for this

I wanted to make this centred on artists who create interesting creatures and figures. And they would receive the majority of the funds from having their cards randomly bought or traded.

I don't know how the game mechanic would work but Its a nice though to be able to open this up to artists to create their own deck of cards and have the community ascribe statistics, strengths and weaknesses based on a spectrum of criteria.

Open source art, group sourced stats, community moderation. Fun and a source of passive income from independent artists.

Yeah man, I have long been into this use of tokens. Last summer, I started conceptualizing an abstracted layer that would ultimately cater to things like trading card games using blockchain and crypto-asset tech. My project is called cryptoverbs and focused on action tokens obviously. Maybe we should flesh this out more. I have many simple verb asset names on XCP and XDP that could be leveraged if it seems logical. I have lots of ideas around this topic and would be willing to collab.

They plan on allowing anyone to use the tokens from this game to be expandable to other games such as their trading card game Manga. But if you create one to nick I would def buy into it. I am a huge MTG player :D (well used to be until it got to expensive. Now I just keep one really really good legacy deck)

Hmmm this might also interest the artists involved in Powcoin - which has also just started to issue the new counterparty asset POWC to merged folding participants. You can contact the POW dev at @POWCOIN on twitter.

So you wouldn't need to worry about the game mechanics much. You could create an entire deck as an artist and let the community do the stats details etc.

That is very cool. Very powerful. But this would become a direct competitor to moonga... Does anyone know about how the legalese might work?

I guess maybe token controlled access could prevent any 3rd party from extending the moonga game. But an independent, open-source game would potentially be unstoppable.

On that note, I'm off to make an Eshriekcard asset!
