Could the LTB model be applied to a subreddit?

I'm finally starting to actually feel like the idea of LTBcoin could work, the main evidence being that I'm here writing this post.

I'm here because I like the topic, but also because I know that the more I participate, the more of this weird tokens I get. I almost have enough of them that I could get a message played on a podcast that I listen to regularly, and that is pretty nifty.

But I also am terribly addicted to reddit, as I am sure that tons of other people are. In my opinion reddit has become the best form of "forum" on the internet. There are so many features that have been implemented into reddit, that recreating it from scratch would be a rather pointless endeavor.

I'm wondering if it would be feasible to distribute a User Created Coin to the participants of a subreddit for their participation? I'm guessing that yes it would be. Maybe it is something like once per day, or once per week, all of the activity of the subreddit is scanned for user activity, upvotes and downvotes, and then the coins are distributed based on the quality and amount of participation.

I guess the question becomes, what is the use of those SubRedditCoins, but just like LTBcoin is figuring that out, SubRedditCoins would figure out their own particular use case. Maybe it is simply a way to pay for ads on the subreddit, sponsor links, tip other users of the forum.

I can't quite visualize the end game, but it is a really interesting thought.

Yes, and I believe people are already doing that with reddcoin aren't they? The problem with anything like reddit is it has to be bootstrapped on top. We built our system from scratch to have all these things be very easy and natural to integrate.

We are going to be developing tools and probably a SaaS solution for legacy websites that want some of the awesome features we're developing.

Have you seen Token Controlled Viewpoint yet? Just wait a week ;)

I just took a quick look at Reddcoin, it doesn't seem to do the "magic minting of money" that LTBcoin does for the distribution. And I think that is likely the best part of LTBcoin. The fact that (just like the government, and all monetary system) the system can make tokens out of nothing and distribute them. But it is the distribution of LTB that is special, because the rules are setup to encourage creation and participation.

I saw a little bit of that type of thing in the PoSV of Reddcoin, but I think the really specific rules set out by LTBcoin make a huge difference.

Haven't seen the Token Controlled Viewpoint yet, I'm going to have to search for what that is.
