    Wow, I was not swayed by her argument.

    Also as she's been a graduate for 2 years now, I'm not sure she has a masterful command of the whole business thing yet.

    I am of the opinion that people need to be proactive in discouraging morally reprehensible behavior. Even if you can't change some people you can make it harder for them to get away with ripping people off while simultaneously discouraging others from following in their footsteps.

    But then its easy to be labeled as a hater and swept aside by those who want to continue believing the original lie, so its a fine line to walk. And a noble cause.

    Is journalism even journalism nowadays? There's like 50 shades of grey between opinion pieces, actual factual news and advertising on the web, Bitcoin is just follows the same trend.

    @kerneloops How about 1000 LTBc for anyone who emails Sara Wood at [email protected] with a message "Please take Adam B. Levine off your mailing list."

    In her defense that was the last email I received from them, I posted it to illustrate a point not inspire a public shaming.

    @lainfinity @adam I completely agree please have a look at this blog post.

    I read the article, it's what made me pull out that email - I just don't know if it's really our place to be shaming people. One of my favorite quotes:

    "If somebody thinks they’re a hedgehog, presumably you just give ‘em a mirror and a few pictures of hedgehogs and tell them to sort it out for themselves."

    @shawnj

    Does it cost money?

    Yes, which is fitting since we are in the currency business.

    Here's the breakdown: Advertising in Bitcoin Journal: starts at $390 and if you can't make that commitment then its hard for us >to convince The Street or anyone else you're a viable company. A shared article in The Street is $1,250. An exclusive article in The Street is $2,450.

    The deadline is noon today MST.

    @adam- is this kind of thing common in your experience in journalism as a whole, or just bitcoin?

    edit- formatting

    I really go out of my way not to put myself in situations where I'm exposed to stuff like this, but yes this is not an uncommon tactic and we're regularly approached with questions about how much it would cost to have an interview on LTB or have an article written up about us. Whenever we're invited to conferences part of the deal that gets us free tickets and exhibition table involves both written articles and segments on the show. This is totally normal.

    We just don't participate, there's a bright white line between content and commercial. If we talk about a conference it's because we're genuinely excited.

    I'm not sure if I should be offended that Coin Fire isn't included in those emails ;)

    In all reality though we have always had the policy that payola is wrong. Having read the reddit post, your post and seen the pitchforks out on reddit, Twitter and everywhere else I am glad we made that choice.

    Thanks for standing up to that garbage as well Adam.

    Thanks for calling this out, I received that email several times, and wasn't sure what to make of it.

    @rodyland Besides publicising the practice:

    from http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2amlwa/do_you_vote_on_rbitcoin_articles_you_absolutely/

    I'm not sure what else can be done.

    Very cool to see @coinfire mentioned in a very favorable way!

    It certainly generated a lot of emails, good and bad.

    I have spent the better part of the day just trying to reply to as many of them as I can.

    Taking time away from my regular LTB discussion time.
