I posted about the project in the bitcoin foundation. I havnt really been active there (for many reasons) Though I really didn't realize how much it has evolved into a completely different organization than it was. its interesting to see this develop. I personally love the idea of altcoins with a purpose. I did a little promoting at least hoping to get some attention over there. Whats everyone POV on the Foundation?

Agreed, though if they took some pointers and followed the lead on the crypto community as a whole I think they could be a little more effective. I had a bit of a rant on the forum here.

I really think the unwelcoming, condescending, tone and lack of engagement needs to go. If anyone wants to read it. My name is brady. My post is the novel further down the page. lolI would love to hear anyone's perspective and let me know if I'm off base.0 likes -

lol, thanks Adam. I'm not typically so vocal and opinionated. Though, whats happening with crypto currency gets people a bit emotional. haha

Problem is you're talking to everybody who agrees with you :) I last posted on the foundation board what, six months or something ago. Wish I felt like there was more good that could come of it, but I have very low expectations. Glad I only signed on as a yearly member!

Hopefully it will largely go away, especially in the good times. I think we should want decentralization and not encourage a hierarchical power.
The only good thing is that it pays Gavin's salary. I like that. Though I wish we could decentralize that even more, so that he didn't depend on the foundation for it. Maybe we could use some kind of multi sig address to lock up funds intended for developer salaries, then every x months, one person from each of a number of major companies and trusted individuals signs off on it and releases the money. Just a thought.0 likes -

People could post their profiles, link to their github and have a http://bitcoinchipin.com style widget encouraging people to donate to them.
It would not take many people to fund 10 full time developers, and ones that don't deliver wouldnt be as popular so the incentives would be right.0 likes -

I have some ideas that seem eerily similar to the direction your thinking. I'm working through some details involving crowd sourcing and music. Your LTBcoin idea has been inspiring for me. I would love to talk to you about what I'm proposing after I can test my ideas with some of the protocols being developed. If it goes well I really want to rattle some ideas around and see if we see eye to eye on some things. I'll keep you posted.

Nothing eerie about it, these ideas are obvious, you literally fall over them as you follow the logic. And that's always true when the paradigm shifts, the only difference is we're doing it in a globally collaborative, transparent way instead of a few individuals all racing for permission to make a monopoly on the obvious idea.
Douglas Adam's said:"It is a rare mind indeed that can render the hitherto non-existent blindingly obvious. The cry ‘I could have thought of that’ is a very popular and misleading one, for the fact is that they didn’t, and a very significant and revealing fact it is too."
He also said"All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others."
I like to remember that in times of doubt, where the logic I can see so clearly seems to run contrary to the way the world works. In modern culture there is a pervasive monopoly of reality. The consensus has been shanghai'd and the world is being dragged down an unnatural path. I wrote a paper recasting DACs as Consensus tools rather than companies, with a company being one possible use-case of a consensus tool but not the exclusive one.
I'll close with this, my philosophy for LTBCOIN and most other things, once again from Douglas Adams
"Let us think the unthinkable, let us do the undoable, let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all."0 likes -

haha, I don't think eerie was the most accurate adjective. More so "surreal". To have a technology that, by nature, brings mutual consensus and directs peoples thinking in a way that is mutually beneficial and progressive is fascinating. So the correct term would definitely be surreal. And thanks for the quotes. I'm a quote lover. :)
I dont think people in the general public are looking beyond bitcoin the currency nor have even begun to understand Bitcoin the network and what technology like this actually means. I feel overzealous at times and have to tell myself to calm down. lol
My family and friends still look at me like I'm a crazy person when I talk about my ideas and how this technology makes the impossible, possible. They will see soon enough, cant wait.0 likes
