When I first heard Adam discuss LTBcoins, I had been considering different methods of raising capital for a physical BitBrew cafe. I wanted to allow the Bitcoin community an opportunity to be a part of it but didn't want to simply do a kickstarter-like campaign. First off, I couldn't imagine anyone donating funds to a for-profit business without expecting some kind of return on their investment. Secondly, even if I did promise to pay back supporters, any timeframe I might propose would be dependent on so many variables that it would probably be foolhardy to even suggest one.
I also didn't want to sell "shares" of BitBrew. Not only would it be a regulatory nightmare waiting to happen, the deflationary nature of Bitcoin means that investors would have to believe either that this business would grow faster than Bitcoin itself, or that my vision deserved support regardless of monetary gains. Even on a good day, I couldn't even convince myself of that.
All of the above prompted me to start considering alternative methods of funding. Something told me that alt-coins might provide some insight but I hadn't yet connected the dots.
Now, I fall asleep thinking of BitBrewCoins, a million tokens purchased for the equivalent of 25 cents each, redeemable for a cup of BitBrew coffee at some point in the future and I dream of exchanges where early adopters living in far off lands can sell their BitBrewCoins to locals jonesing for their morning caffeine fix.
I'll probably start a new thread soon to discuss the steps necessary to turn BitBrew into a DAC that will dwarf Starbucks, but for now I'd like to ask you, How would you apply the LTBcoin model to other industries?
