    @davidareallen

    I mentioned MediaCoin to Adam some time ago, because I can sell it to the mainstream AND new media people.

    My suggestions is make MEDIA COIN now and have 1 Media Coin = 1 LTB Coin, that way the crypto folks have their passion and the rest of the world can get on board.

    The future is now. Why wait?

    Because there's no do-overs, and it would be good if we understood the ramifications of what we're doing before we try to "sell it" to anyone.

    Adam B. Levine - "rebrand this property as LTB Crypto"

    Are you saying you are going to be rebranding the "Let's Talk Bitcoin Network" to "LTB Crypto"; or "LTBCoin" to "LTB Crypto"; or something else?

    Let's Talk Bitcoin! is the show

    LTB or The LTB Network will be the network branding for the current property and phase of the project

    At the point that we learn/teach enough to start the next run of projects, LTB will be rebranded LTB Crypto, and the new properties will be LTB and LTB .

    Again, please don't get caught up thinking this is happening soon. It's not. We have a long way to go before then, and the plan will surely morph with our experience. Feel free to comment, just don't get concerned that this anything real or imminent, just what I think will make sense as we grow.

    Tree's don't grow to be miles tall, they grow to maturity and then catalyze a forest of friends and relatives to grow around them. We're not the forest, just the first tree.

    @adam I think its good to emphasize that the point of this project is to incentivize better content and community.

    Hi Adam!

    First of all, I have to say: great work with your podcasts, and everything else you do!!

    About incentivizing better content: Your idea of rating blog posts once a week is not bad for a start, but I am not sure if it will scale well, so you may need some sort of pageRank-like mechanism. Maybe the creator of a forum/blog post gets better incentivized if he gets "liked" by a member who already got liked by many others?

    Yep, we're working on something very similar :)

    I have another idea: I love to learn new stuff in general, but even more about bitcoin/blockchain/btcProtocol/... these days. I also think that knowledge will be increasingly important, without it the cryptocurrency as a hole can not grow as well as it would with more knowledge, because less knowledge means more people falling to scams, but not only that, it means less focus on decentralization, and other not so trivial things

    But there are 2 problems: after some time reading and learning about things you find everywhere like difficulty, HDWallets, p2sh, importance of decentralization... it begins to be more difficult to find new material that is a) new AND b) easily understandable with the knowledge one has acquired until this point (meaning: the new-stuff should not have to much new in it, or I won't have the time to understand it in the time I have)

    =>

    It would be great to have a quiz-section (flashcard-like): one could go through some questions once in a while and if they are done in way that they build on each other (knowledge wise), than I could gradually learn more every week.

    Then give incentive to (in decreasing order): 1) the creators of quiz-series (depending of ratings/likes) 2) the people posting good quiz hints (memrise.com for example has the cool-feature, that lets users create hints, and even lets user users "like" the hints that help them understand/remember items) 3) the people achieving good quiz results (it wouldn't even be that of a big danger if people would post results on the web, because people would often read the answer when copy&paste and thus learn in the process)

    Of course the quiz should be taggable (btc-protocol, sidechain/treechains, importance of decentralization, btc-101, btc-102, btc-python-step-by-step, ...)

    BONUS) Maybe the creator of such a quiz-tool could be incentivized as well, a little bit for having build some working tool and additionally if the tool reaches an amount of x users or x-quizzes solved

    Let me know in this forum or via private message (I hope you can see my private-mail, if not.. I am also btc_revel on reddit) if you are interested in some help. I might be interested in doing 1), 2), 3) and even the BONUS (developing the quiz-tool)

    Going back to the original question of "how would you explain LTBCoin to someone who doesn't know about bitcoin?" It may be easier to answer this giant question if you work backwards but that would require knowing who your audience will be when you say 'non-early adopters'. Who are they>what do they know and familiar with>what is the most common thread amongst this pool of people>how can i equate that relating to something about cryptos and shift perspective>explain LTBCoin. I am still trying to understand all the tangibles surrounding LTBCoin myself so I apologize if this is a crude example but the vast majority of people are familiar with the franchise Chuck E Cheese. If you go there and want to play a game you must exchange your quarters for tokens. People understand this concept of assigning value to those cheap pieces of shiny aluminum, partially because its backed by an asset: your quarter. People know that if they don't want to play anymore they can easily go to the counter and exchange it back for quarters and walk out. The easy way to exchange back and forth, the stability of the exchange rate and the history of 'trustworthiness' probably makes it easier for the average joe not to even think twice when he is walking up that counter with a fistful of quarters and walking away with some tokens that he cant buy anything with outside of Chuck E Cheese.

    Here's a thought. It's as if you had reddit karma that you could freely give to other people. Or facebook likes. Or twitter stars or Tumblr hearts. The more likes you get, the more likes you can send to others in exchange for posting something you thought deserved more. It takes normal site reward systems, and then frees the user to actually DO something with them.

    This is an area that I am experimenting in.
