  • Re: The Multiwallet is out on Testnet! Hop in the chat, I'll see you on the DEX

@jamiebeach I just sent you some LTBCOINTEST
If you have test XCP in your Counterwallet you can go to the Buy/Sell tab and experiment with buying some more.

Thanks deweller! Will pop in and do some work later on.

  • Re: Let's set up a Wiki as a guide to LTBcoin

I'm already quite familiar with MediaWiki, so it's my preferred platform. I don't see a need for funds as such, assuming we can set up a MW install on the hosting we already have. The software is free and typically offered as a 1-click install on many web hosting platforms. Later we can see about the possibility of using some funds to integrate it with the main site and what not, but for now let's just get some content in there.
    Am I missing something?

  • Re: What are your thoughts on DeleteCoin? Could LTBcoin use this model?

I've been turning this over in my head since I saw it this morning. My gut feeling is that LTBcoin should be either bought or earned by contributing to the LTB network, but that's just me. I still think this is an idea well worth considering.
In particular, I see how it could work well as a one-time thing, or for a limited initial period. Otherwise, there are some issues that would need to be addressed/overcome. Some of them have been brought up in the comments thread below the Deltecoin announcement Matt linked. I'll summarize my main concerns:
    1) Deletecoin seems to be doing all the burn manually at this point in time until they figure out a way to automate it, which could be a non-trivial drain on our resources. I have no idea how Deletecoin plan to have their protocol read all the other blockchains to verify burning, but at least they have a real mining setup that just might be able to do that. Would we be able to automate something like that without mining per sé?
    2) How do you establish the weighting of different altcoins? If I burn X% of all Litecoins and the same X% of all Crapcoins, do I get the same amount of LTBcoin? Copy/paste from the Deletecoin comments: Total time over mining all coins of any altcoin is not taken into account and neither is difficulty/popularity of the coin in question. For example If you mine a large percentage of a coin that was completely mined in 30 days at low difficulty, would you be entitled to the same amount of DEL as if it were a once popular coin that has a total runtime of say, 100 years?
    3) If burning for LTB is more advantageous than buying LTB then that would negatively affect (kill off?) the LTB exchange. People could just buy Crapcoins on the cheap to get discounted LTB. On the other hand, If it's more advantageous to buy LTBcoin, then why burn for it? If the altcoin is defunct and now worthless, then we're probably devaluing LTBcoin by trading it for something worthless.
Again, most of these issues would be less of a problem if this is just part of the initial distribution.

  • Let's set up a Wiki as a guide to LTBcoin

There's all sorts of useful info and questions being answered on these forums and I think it would make sense to start compiling it all into one place for reference. That would make it easier for newcomers and also everyone else, of course.
The links below are just a few that come to mind, and more relevant information is getting buried in the flurry of forum activity.
    http://ltbcoin.com/discussion/69/ltbcoin-for-newbies-under-construction
    http://ltbcoin.com/discussion/19/what-every-piece-of-content-must-have-to-be-published-paid
    http://ltbcoin.com/discussion/93/ltbcoin-and-sponsor-slot-tokens
    http://ltbcoin.com/discussion/55/subjective-coin-distribution
I volunteer to organize the wiki and start collecting content that we can update as we go along and the whole LTBcoin system comes together, and I'm sure others will help out too.
Thoughts? Can we get MediaWiki or a similar platform installed?

  • Re: What Every Piece of Content Must Have to be Published & Paid

    Hi Rodney7777,
The two summaries will be used in different contexts.
I'm taking an educated guess here as I haven't spoken with Adam on this specific detail, but a good use for the two could be as follows: The short summary goes on the front page of the LTB website together with the title and cover art image. Then when you click to the post/article proper, you can read the long summary at the top of the page to decide if you want to read the whole piece.
Another possibility could be that the long summary would go on the hompage that is served to computers and tablets, while the short summary would be used on the website for mobile phones, where there is less space.

  • Re: Asynchronous Content Creation

The answer is indeed 'yes', Ruben. It doesn't matter how you create the content. You could even outsource any part of the process to muggles for USD or whatever.
On the other hand, there could very well be a demand for the kind of services kerneloops mentioned, or even an LTB job board, and anyone can just set something up as their own business within the LTB ecosystem. Such initiatives don't have to be a community effort. The consensus can come after the fact in the form of which services people actually use.

  • Re: What Every Piece of Content Must Have to be Published & Paid

edd, I don't mean to discourage collaboration, but I just want to point out that you don't even need to wait for anyone to contact you. If you can write posts and create artwork that meet the standard, then more power to you, because you would be able to start your own lone wolf "ACT" and produce your own content if you wanted to.

  • Re: LTBCoin and the start of Private Network Tokens

LibertyWarrior said: What will be done with the LTBcoins that are accepted for Sponsorships? Will they be destroyed or redistributed?

LTB from sponsors won't be destroyed. In fact, after the 5-year LTB distribution is over, sponsorship and other income will be what keeps the whole LTB Network running, paying for operating costs and rewarding contributors at all levels.
Initially, the weekly LTB distributions will be considerably greater than incoming sponsorships, which is probably why I don't think I've seen any specific info about sponsorship money factored in yet.
To go into a little more detail, in the first year, teams of content creators (Autonomous Content Teams, or ACTs) will be rewarded according to a Proof of Quality metric, which will measure how much material of sufficient quality they publish. This will gradually shift to a Proof of Value model, over 5 years, with compensation eventually depending completely on how much value (sponsorships, audience and so on) specific shows or blogs can negotiate or attract.

  • Re: How should the LTB Network Operate? Please Check out BetterMeans - Open Enterprise Governance Model

Fascinating! These guys were doing DAC's before they were cool. I particularly like the retrospectives idea as a simple and fair solution to the rather complex problem of sharing compensation.
I've been also thinking about how to arrive at an optimal weighting of rewards for the different Proof of Work tasks that Users can accomplish, so that the rewards reflect the utility and the network's need of specific tasks at a particular time. Are there any models that could be used to automate this according to a stated outcomes-based policy that the Let's Talk Bitcoin DAC agrees upon? Or would it make sense to have the weighting influenced directly by simple voting on what the reward weights should be?
Here's a discussion on multiple reward balancing in AI learning (though I admit the math portions pretty much go over my head). Some of those points and ideas could be applicable to LTB if you consider the Agents described in the paper to be LTB Users, and the Goals that give rewards to be the different Proofs of Work we are planning. Some of the papers cited look like they might offer more insight, though I don't have access to them.
