Metacoin Posting Guidelines (read first)
Hey all
This sub forum is intended to be a resource for those looking to discover new user created assets (aka metacoins, appcoins, blockchain assets, smart contracts etc.). If you have a token you have built on top of CounterParty, Mastercoin, Colored Coins, Etherium, NXT or any other so called "Bitcoin 2.0" protocol, feel free to post about them here. No traditional alt-coins please (e.g litecoin clones)
Posting Rules
- One thread per token/asset
- Thread title must contain the name of the token followed by its relevent extension (more on that in a moment)
- Post should contain a thorough description of what the token or asset is all about and what it does. Links to resources and further reading (or an official site) are also recommended.
Keep in mind that this is a moderated forum. Keep things civil, and if something is proven to be a scam, expect that the post will quickly be shut down. We cannot guarantee the security of any potential investments you might find here. Remember to never invest more than you can afford to lose.
Title Extensions
To keep things a bit organized, the name of the token/asset in the title of your post should contain an "extension" to indicate what protocol it is using. Example: "LTBCOIN.XCP" (XCP = Counterparty). See below for the list:
- .XCP = CounterParty
- .XDP = DogeParty
- .MSC = MasterCoin
- .CC = Colored Coins
- .NXT = NXT
- .ETHR = Etherium
Let me know if there is any I missed.
Should be pretty straightforward. any feedback appreciated.

Re: Podcast Download Issues
Might be moving things over from soundcloud to a CDN with Amazon (for the feeds at least). I have the recent episode about Mastercoin replaced on the feed. Can anyone confirm wether or not that episode shows up properly in their feed now?

Re: Darn...
BTW the reason your text keeps going all big and bold like that (headings) is because of the "--" you are putting around your text, which triggers the heading formatting in markdown.

Re: Darn...
@MaxEntropy I'm not attacking you, not sure where you get that from. Sorry if it seems that way. I'm just responding to this as the main developer for this site.
I do not see the same flexibility or extensibility in the LtB Coin software, as I see in the GitHub software, > for example. Of course, the GitHub server software affords DIFFERENT functionality than this cite. To re-> iterate, I do not see how the Front Page model scales. I do not see regular Internet readers digging / clicking into hierarchically ordered bulletin board like items... perusing content. There needs to be a fast way to establish context and identify items to be read / focused on. I have become tired of well meaning commenters - citing - "Great Article !". I want to easily get past the fluff and get to items of substance.
You cant see it because you cant see the code and we havnt open sourced it yet. Its only been in development for like ~ 4 months as opposed to github which is years and years old, not to mention both serve entirely different purposes. We have a TON of functionality in the works.. patience
The front page actually only shows a certian number of posts (24 or something like that), and the rest can be viewed by clicking on "View All", or by simply browsing the internal blog areas of the site.
The potential that I see, for the LTB Coin concept is not to enable Let's Talk Bitcoin to get to a larger audience, but rather, to enable EXISTING WordPress websites to use the LTB Coin and the Bitcoin network. If Let's Talk Bitcoin uses WordPress then they too win.
Why WordPress? Just because its the most used CMS out there? The old site used to be built on wordpress, but the new platform is something completely different. You are essentially asking us to take a huge step back and scrap everything we have done so far this year.
Also your idea for an LTBcoin/BTC gateway widget for wordpress is not only infeasible, but frankly dangerous. Infeasible because in order to run an automated crypto gateway service like that, you need to run both a full (and indexed) bitcoin node as well as a counterparty server. That a) costs money and b) requires some technical expertise, which most wordpress users probably don't have. It's dangerous because conducting bitcoin transactions and having direct server wallet access inside wordpress is an awful idea and will only end badly for somebody. Wordpress is notorious for bad security (especially with the third party plugins, which 99% of people use), not to mention is a massive target for bots and spam. All it takes is one chunk of code in a seemingly harmless plugin/widget and someone can lose some serious money.
The goal is to create valuable content, not to create as many points of exchange as possible for the coin.
Lastly, while I am not a 'web developer', I do see value in 'responsive user interface' capabilities for mobile devices. I note that the Let's Talk Bitcoin website does not support a responsive web interface. I no longer use workstation or laptop browser applications to read on the Internet.
Ok. It actually is responsive for mobile, but it sounds like there is some issues you are having with the tablet mode of the site. I will have to look into it more and get it fixed. When things like that don't work, its typically not on purpose :p feel free to post any bugs or display issues you find here: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/board/ltb-platform-support
Last example... I just finished reading the article entitled "How to Succeed in Bitcoin's Command Economy". On returning to the Front Page... there was no context established for the author's 'card' or entry point to their content. There were/are some 25 cards today. What happens when this is several hundred?
Can you clarify what you mean that "there was no context established for the authors 'card'" ? The front page shows the last 25~ posts, after that it cuts off and you can go through the rest of the pages of content by going to "View All" at the bottom there.
the LTB Coin concept is a really great idea, but the target or the competitor to take on should be Google's Youtube or the textual equivalent of it; or Amazon/ Chapters publishing. I know of authors who either can not afford to publish through Amazon or are badly squeezed financially by Amazon. Why not attempt to eat their lunch? And at the same time put more load on the Bitcoin network.
In order to take on youtube, amazon, google etc.. you have to provide a service thats like theirs but better. What we are doing is nothing like what they are doing, they are completely different businesses and ideas. If we got as successful as one of them.. that would be really really cool, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. One thing at a time :P
the google, office and GitHub software is arguably better designed or less constrained for mobile devices with responsive user interface elements. They are un-constrained by gratuitous colour and gratuitous formatting. The content becomes the user experience,.. largely.
OK. The visual design and layout is something that is being worked on, its not set in stone and doesnt have anything to do with the website architecture.
I mentioned the GitHub software because it is designed to scale. Which is the necessary goal of any concept tied to a virtual currency. Naturally, they, GitHub have different functionality at a certain level. But arguably the LTB Coin concept could be extended to software development projects. Why not? I will avoid going into detail of the benefits that I see in the GitHub approach - only to say that they have millions of subscribers with their own content... Which can be collaborated with. I think you get my general point.
IMO Github is too confusing for the general public. Again, its great for people that are technical, developers, programmers etc.. not so great for a podcast community blog + forum.
Your right that something like LTBcoin (i.e, user created assets) could be used for software development projects. I am almost 100% certian that there are several other people working on things like this. For LTBcoin though, that is way out of our scope.
if there was say, a BlockChain created WordPress Widget, then WordPress Admins could purchase the Widget (necessary). This, in itself would create/pull a very large number of wallets onto the BlockChain website. I expect a LTB Coin Gateway could be run co-resident with the BlockChain servers.
Why would it need to be a paid widget? Im not too sure what your meaning here. we are not blockchain.info
Can someone explain, why the some of the text I type on an iPad appears larger than intended - teal in colour and large in size?
We use markdown for formatting/editing (which is what github and reddit use actually). It looks like its interpreted that line of text as a heading, and the styles are just a bit wonky on it. Il have to adjust it.
I'd like to point out again that we are still in heavy development and a lot of things are going to be added and/or changed, as well as overall design and layout changes. Stay tuned for updates, and we're always open to suggestions (doesn't mean we will always do them though :) )

Re: Darn...
Um.. Lol?
A couple things..
-
this isnt some off the shelf message board system with a custom theme. Its a fully custom platform built from the ground up and highly extendable. Forums are just one feature we added in and it's also all in heavy development still. Literally our only limits are time and money.
-
github is great and all for open source collaborative coding and version control... That has nothing to with what we are trying to do. Are you suggesting we have the platform as a hosted github page instead, or basically just build something that is like github? Not sure how that makes sense. It's great for developers, but most people don't know how to use it.
- so basically, our solution is just to build a LTBCoin widget for wordpress? To accomplish what exactly? WordPress Bitcoin asset gateways seems like a terrible idea, especially from a security standpoint. Also not really needed, it can already be exchanged on the DEX and very likely soon to be on actual crypto exchange sites.
When you say you have technical knowledge, are you actually a programmer/web develop er?

Re: Counterwallet Asset Drop List Signup
@cyberclones I don't know if this would be worth it but what are your views on getting a category created where we could talk about different counterparty tokens and if there is a new drop the issuer of the drop can write a little blurb on what the tokens purpose is. Not sure if you can have sub cats with the software but if you can I think is would fit well under "Bitcoin and Beyond"
Sub categories are doable but not quite imemented yet.
@adam what do you think of having a forum category for these? We can move it to be a sub-forum somewhere once we have that capability

Re: Counterwallet Asset Drop List Signup
@maxentropy Hi Adam,
I dont't think you are a developer. The issue with 'more automation' is tightly related to system architecture. This is system is currently, entirely dependent on the underlying bulletin board software and is therefore not readily extended in the manner that is required. Consequently, it does not matter that this software is an early release.
With kind regards, Max
Sorry, I dont think you have any idea what you are talking about. There is no "underlying bulletin board software". Forums are just one modular feature, and everything is also still in development.

Re: Display Ads on LetsTalkBitcoin.com!
I'm not sure why it's not showing up.
'cause I published on June 30th (I said July 1st--- actually in was June 30th).
Your stats are through the 29th ;)like 5,000 visits to that article in one day, not too bad :p I noticed that coindesk kind of stole the thunder with their post about it being one of the top on reddit.

Re: Design work for LTBcoin
@adam @cryptonaut that is only true on the first post, can we add it to all posts?
sure thing. I was thinking a larger button right by "post reply" up top, but we can do either or both.
Oh yeah that's a better idea, a Subscribe button at the end of the thread, since someone wanting to subscribe would of course want to do it at the end and otherwise have to scroll back up to the top.
How about one at the top and one at the bottom :p
