  • Re: Proof of Participation point metric adjustments

@bitsol I noticed how the points for everything went up. Does this mean people will get more LTBCOIN or is it just a new way of saying how much points are worth?

Its mostly just a new way of calculating how much each point is worth. The amount of points doesnt matter too much, its all about the percentage each person has compared to everyone else

  • Re: Let your bitcoin work for you?

There are other and better ways to put your BTC to work besides just day trading and mining. Pretty much everything in this space is very risky though, so keep that in mind.

Heres something to check out: http://letstalkbitcoin.com/forum/post/speculatexcp-weekly-payouts

@alchemix Whats to prevent the members who these new rules are directed at, from now making many more accounts, sharing the Magic words with each acct and making a few posts and "liking" each post?

I understand that your trying to prevent spamming/abuse of the PoP system in general, and i dont have a problem with that per say.

I do however think there has been what feels like an over policing of this forum in the last few weeks. Specifically, many threads talking about deleting users post because certain members or mods felt the posts were "spammy" in that persons "opinion".

One of my referrals is my younger brother who has Cerebral Palsy. He told me that many of his posts have been deleted and one can safely assume it was because his posts were shorter in length and not as detail rich as a mod or other members of the forums.

This type of thing i think also happens with Non English speakers. Im an insatiable reader, and ive read many posts here where non english speakers are accused of spamming post when IMHO i feel they are just trying to engage in conversation.

Bottomline, maybe going forward a little more empathy can be used on this subject. Not everyone on the internet is trying to spam or scam....

    Thanks for reading. Cheers

Thanks for your input, its appreciated

There is really nothing to stop someone from creating a ton of accounts and entering in magic words etc., and I dont think there ever will be. The most we could do is restrict it to one account per IP address, but even that is really easy to get around... Its just a matter of making it too cumbersome and not worth while to manage an army of accounts (LTBc isnt even worth that much). Any user that actually is active and contributes posts will easily outweigh any accounts only farming magic words etc, and each extra user that participates dilutes the overall pool... IMO, not really a problem, and if it becomes one, we can deal with it then.

As for the moderator stuff.. yeah, there has probably been some times where there has been over aggressive moderation. Its difficult to balance.. on one hand we dont want to exclude people and we have a lot of people trying to get involved and participate from non english speaking countries, which is fine... but on the other hand this is a primarily english website and we want to have some intelligent and informative conversation. It becomes pretty hard to take when threads devolve into nothing but "wow nice info!", "many thanks" or some barely coherent sentence basically saying "what is this", obviously not even trying to read the actual thread. It can also be pretty hard to distinguish sometimes between somebody who is just not very good at english due to it being second language, and somebody who is just posting crap to boost their post count and get extra rewards, or just spamming. It has gotten bad enough to the point where many of our regular members have been driven away and specifically mentioning the growing low quality posts.

Also, there is the fact that in the earlier days of this forum, we had hardly any spam at all and needed only very basic moderation (which was nice). Then at some point all of a sudden it became an endless onslaught of these spammy or incoherent posts, which has been a constant battle since just to prevent this place from turning into a worthless cesspool of spam. Unfortunately there has been times where innocent/legitimate users have been caught in the crossfire :(

As iv mentioned a bunch of times now.. looking forward to some major upgrades on the forums in near future, including proper upvote/downvote system. Fingers crossed, should be able to strike a balance between not having to strictly moderate things but also not turn into a spam haven and have quality posts.

  • Re: SPECULATE.XCP - Weekly Payouts!

    Weekly payout has been sent!

  • Re: Counterwallet DEX no longer supports BTC trades

@jsea its just disabled altogether at the moment, so I guess you can say its not a huge pain anymore lol.

You can still trade for instance LTBCOIN XCP or any other pairing of counterparty tokens no problem and works pretty smooth actually. Its just BTC itself which is an issue.

The actual issue is really just because Counterwallet is completely client side and the website servers never actually touch your private keys. If there was a centralized web wallet for counterparty (something like coinbase or w/e), they wouldnt have this problem at all because they could finalize trades on your behalf. So there is trade offs on the extra security.

  • Re: About Sidechain

@jsea Sidechains in theory do a lot of things whether technically feasible or not is yet to be established. At present there's no evidence that sidechains are technically workable, the concept unless thoroughly tested could potentially grind the blockchain to almost standstill transaction times, it's already experiencing massive bloat.

This is my understanding, how does a sidechain theory, if developed ever get tested ?

How would it be grinding transaction times to a halt on the main chain? From what I understand, sidechains are basically just your regular altcoin with its own miners (usually via merged mining) and own blockchain, but instead of the coin/token being its own thing, you can actually just transfer your BTC from one chain to another. It shouldnt really effect the main blockchain at all unless maybe people were moving all their BTC en masse into a sidechain.

  • Re: No Price Discovery for LTBCoin is a Problem, But There is a Solution

    @jadair10

@adam Also it's been mentioned that this is an experiment so I'll not repeat it endlessly, auctioning everything was never intended to be a permenent solution, rather a stopgap that we'd build to.

In the future we'll have tokens auctioned bulk, for large sponsors or users who want to resell the tokens and if you just want one token you'll buy it from a vending machine for the stated price.

But in the beginning the prices will be based off bitcoin and LTBc value relative to it.

@adam, can you give us an update on this subject? It appears that the flow of auctions selling LTB sponsorship tokens, ad tokens, and other LTBn sponsorship tokens has come to a crawl. Consequently I suspect the lack of the aforementioned tokens is causing undue downward pressure on LTBc. You have not received anything from any 3 letter organizations recently have you?

No 3 lettered legal troubles AFAIK. Definitely has been a bit of a slow crawl though. Primarily this is because most of the token stuff is all still a very manual process and we are still working on building out the infrastructure for redeeming tokens, scheduling, bulk sales etc.. also a lot of dealing with business and planning stuff and we havnt started actively marketing/advertising any of this. Bit of a slow period for us right now, but things should be picking up pace pretty quick here.
