  • Re: SPECULATE.XCP - Weekly Payouts!

    @triplez Hello Cryptonaut,

    I invested some btc in SPECULATE and received my first dividend ! Sweet !

    I'm quite new to cryptos assets and I was wondering if you could explain a little bit more on how you build this asset ? I have few questions, if you don't mind...

    • How did you choose the total number of units, why 100 000 ?

    • Same question about the ratio of re-investment, why 75% if 25 000 token sold and do on ?

    • How did you come with the formula for the price change (last weekly payout per token) X (32 weeks) ?

    Thank you very much for your help !

    No problem, thanks for playing!

    • 100,000 mostly just seemed like a good round number. Originally, we were actually using a different token called PETAMINE which only had like 24,000 tokens at the end of it and used a different investment scheme (new tokens were created for every new investment). SPECULATE was at first going to use this same scheme, but then it was decided to just issue a whole bunch at once instead. 100K seemed like a reasonable number which would not dilute the current token holders way too much
    • The investment rate has to do with how many unsold tokens there are. So for example, if 25,000 tokens are sold, that means 75,000 are sitting unsold in the investment holding address. When a dividend is made, it sends out the per-unit amount to anyone with tokens regardless of the address, which means that the address that holds those 75,000 unsold tokens ends up getting 75% of the total dividend paid out. Thus, not much else to do with that extra amount besides re-invest it
    • The price calculation is based off of estimated return on investment. 32 weeks is 8 months (which seemed like a reasonable amount of time to me), so that means if you buy some tokens, as long as the dividend stays the same or higher than when you bought, then you should be able to make your ROI within that 8 months.

    Does that all make sense to you?

  • Re: LTBcoin Update - Weighted "Likes" & Article Submission Fees

    @irnhnve Does the 'age' of the LTBc in your address having any bearing in the computation? Such as someone with 1,000,000 recently purchased coins from an exchange vs someone who earned them through distributions and therefore has held them unmoved in their wallet for several months.

    Not yet, but I am looking into how we can incorporate something like that.

  • Re: LTBcoin Update - Weighted "Likes" & Article Submission Fees

    @febo

    @cryptonaut So for example, if I have 100,000 LTBC and the user who's post I am liking only has 10,000, that user would get somewhere around 1 whole point.. but if I tried to like/upvote someone who had 250,000 LTBC, they would only receive the minimum 0.05 points. The more LTBcoin you have, the larger your influence with each like.

    So if i understand right, If you have more LTBC in your wallet, then for like you recive, you get less coins?. I dont understand the point here. So people that will sell their LTBC or move them to other wallet or on exchange will get more for one like they recive.

    Sort of. You only get get less points in terms of low level members can no longer effectively feed you endless likes on every post you make. It takes quite a bit of LTBc difference in order to make much of an impact, so its not like for e.g someone with 25,000 or 50,000 is going to get much less than someone with 0 or 1,000 with the average like. And it is all relative to what users are involved. Adam for example is basically oprah-rich with LTBC, so almost any member he takes the time to like is going to get max points (dont forget, it also gives less points everytime you like the same person more than once in a day).

    Also, if you already have say 500K or 1 million+ LTBcoin, pretty much anything you do on the forums Proof of Participation wise is going to hardly make a dent in your holdings anyways. Technically you could just dump your coins or move them to another wallet, but the amount of extra points you would get is pretty marginal and it would only really make a difference if most of the people that give you a "like" also happen to be large holders of LTBC. IMO, it actually gives some incentive to hold/hoard LTBC (increases influence), at least for users that actually want to be involved in the forums and are not just here purely to farm coin.

  • LTBcoin Update - Weighted "Likes" & Article Submission Fees

    Hey everyone

    A few fairly significant changes have been completed which lately some of you may or may not have noticed or read about. Check it out:

    Weighted "Likes"

    In response to the obvious like farming that happened last week after the point value was raised from 0.5 to 1, I have setup a precursor to the upcoming weighted upvote/downvote system that we have been talking about.

    Everytime you "Like" a post now, that like carries a different weight depending on how much LTBcoin you have [in a verified address] compared to the other user who is receiving the upvote. The minimum PoP point value per like is 0.05, and the maximum is 5 points (you need a pretty fat ltbc stash to dish out max points though). So for example, if I have 100,000 LTBC and the user who's post I am liking only has 10,000, that user would get somewhere around 1 whole point.. but if I tried to like/upvote someone who had 250,000 LTBC, they would only receive the minimum 0.05 points. The more LTBcoin you have, the larger your influence with each like.

    Also, scores for Likes are now diminished on a per-user-per-day basis. Everytime you like/upvote the same user in the same day, each like is worth less. For example, if you were able to give a max 5 points to a user twice in the same day, they would only get 7.5 points instead of 10 points.

    Additionally, the entire privilege to "like" a post or topic has been disabled for the majority of users. In order to regain access to this option, you must first receive at least X points (mystery!) worth of likes from one or more other members. Since all of the farming accounts would easily pass this threshold if I calculated the new variable scores for all previous likes in the system, I have opted to have the updated points system just start from today onwards. Instead, I created a quick script which applies the new calculations on every "like" that Adam, myself, and a few other staff members have made, so most regular / active members (excluding the spammers) should still be able to like peoples posts right away.

    Theoretically this should all totally kill the ability to farm likes/upvotes and put the favour back into the people that make quality posts (or at least are quality members)... but we will have to wait and see! Should be interesting :)

    Blog Article Submission Fees

    This update has been live for a few days now actually, but we never really made an announcement about it.. In your account dashboard, under "Blog" there is now an option called "Submissions". This is the new area that blog articles can be submitted to. It only shows articles that you have submitted, can be searched or sorted through and the interface for writing/editing posts has been improved (separated into multiple tabs + a few other changes)

    Unless you are a frequent writer for us (contact us if you are not already setup with proper permissions) or are a podcaster, then you must pay an LTBcoin submission fee in order to submit your article. This is primary an anti-spam mechanism, is non-refundable and is also not a guarantee that your work will be published on the front page or elsewhere. @adam can probably elaborate on this more

    Fees are paid in the form of purchasing "Submission Credits". Clicking on the "Purchase Credits" button slides out a box which shows a quick explainer paragraph as well as a bitcoin payment address. 1 Submission Credit costs 1,000 LTBcoin, and it costs 1 credit to create 1 blog post. You may purchase multiple credits at once. Send however much LTBC to the payment address it gives you, and the page will automatically update shortly after with the payment.

    This is only the first round of updates to the blogging system. Over the coming weeks there will be a whole bunch more changes and new features for the backend submission and editorial systems, including some additional direct uses for LTBcoin. Stay tuned
