I'm excited to announce a project that is very inspired by LTBcoin.
I am starting a content co-op called Strange Membrane where I will be creating video "templates" (and later other forms of media as well) and encouraging user submissions. The content does not necessarily fit under the LTB umbrella, at least not initially, but I would love to create some templates that will add value to the LTB network as well.
I will be paying a small amount of BTC for some of the early submissions and then shift to shares that I will issue through Counterparty. In general, the types of content that will be created will be fairly simple and very "snack-able" so they will be easy to create and quick to consume. The first experiment is called "Urban Dictionary" which I have described in greater detail here: http://www.strangemembrane.com/experiment/content-experiment-urban-dictionary/
If any form of revenue is generated, it will be distributed to the shareholders of Strange Membrane and the only way to earn shares is to submit content. I don't think I have the resources to incentivize other behaviors as Adam is attempting with LTBcoin (but I admire those efforts greatly!). If some of the content is able to earn LTBcoin, then that will also be distributed as a dividend to all shareholders.
I have described my plans in greater detail at the following link:http://www.strangemembrane.com/news/the-experimental-content-co-operative/
I'd love any feedback at this early stage from people who want to participate! I'd also love anyone to point out any major problems/challenges that make the idea unappealing. Some of the issues I'm aware of include the following:Centralization - As Adam is concerned with being a potential point of failure with LTBcoin, I am also aware of being having that role for Strange Membrane, but I intend to gradually release more and more control to the community as we grow together.
Shares issuance - I do not have a concrete plan but intend to reduce the shares per submission gradually so that early users are not diluted too quickly. I want to have a community in place and get feedback before locking the total number of shares.Monetization - I don't know the best approach to this yet, but I believe more and more tools for monetizing views with "dust" will become available. I'm find to run other types of ads on the content, but my concern is the lack of transparency that I would have if I don't accept exclusively crypto. Can't wait to hear what you guys think!
