  I think most wallets with n-of-m encryption of private keys use Shamir's secret sharing.
  At least I am pretty sure that bitcoinarmory.com is using it.
  Why, any questions about it?

  m-of-n multisig does not use this as far as I know, but it is used in Armory's fragmented backup solution.

  Shamirs Secret Sharing is used to basically take a long number and create other numbers out of it, such that m-of-n of those numbers are needed to recreate the original. So a private key can be turned into n strings, m of which can be used to recreate the original key.
